She works in the gift shop and also in the kitchen or whenever she's needed. Pre-Registration Policy Pre-registration is required at the Council on Aging/ Neal Senior Center for most programs, activities and special events held at the Senior Center. This allows the Center to prepare for the appropriate number of people, especially when space is limited or food preparation is involved. We request that you pre-register for any activ- ity, program or special event you think you might want to attend. If after signing up, you find you will be unable to attend, please contact the Center and your name will be removed from the pre-registered participation list. It is much easier for the Senior Center to prepare for a few more persons who are unable to attend than for persons who show up without pre-registering. This helps reduce our operating costs and as the cost of most everything has risen, especially food. The Senior Center must be as conservative with our resources as possible. Thank you for helping us accomplish our goal of providing quality programs and activities while maintaining a tighter than usual budget. Classes, programs, seminars and activities will be cancelled without notice if no one pre-registers. registration should be made no later than 1 week prior to the class, program, seminar, etc in question. registrations will be taken after that if there are unusual circumstances or another date is published. Pre-registration may be accomplished in one of three ways: Phone – 704-482-3488; Fax – 704-481-0151; or Email – labernethy@agingcouncil.org Pre- Pre- COMMODITY DISTRIBUTION PICKUP AT NEAL SR. I know it is the holidays, and a busy busy time for everybody – Christmas Party For You! The Neal Senior Center located at 100 TR Harris Drive in Shelby will host a Christmas Party for adults who are 55 or more years young on Thursday, December 8, 2011 from 9:30 – 11:15 am. Please join the Senior Center and celebrate the spirit of the season. There will be coffee, juice and treats as well as games and music. Special enter- tainment will be presented by the Carolina Singers and they will also lead us during the sing-a-long. All this is just part of the planned party activities. Word has it that the "jolly old elf " himself and maybe even Mrs. Claus will stop by for a visit. Door prizes will be provided and each participant will receive a small gift. All Nursing Homes, Assisted Living and Group Homes for senior adults as well as all church groups for adults are encouraged to attend. All volunteers, Council on Aging members and participants are welcome to attend. The only catch is that you must pre-register prior to 5:00 pm on Monday, December 5, 2011 for the Senior Center to make all the appropriate arrangements. Pre-registration may be accomplished via phone (704-482-3488); fax (704-481-0151) or email labernethy@aging- council.org. but if you could spare a couple of hours to help someone in need (ME!) I would really appreciate it. To all the wonderful volunteers, I wish you all a wonderful holiday season and hope you enjoy every minute with your family and friends cause the years seem to fly by faster and faster and you will never know when that one-minute will be the last. Don't forget the Volunteer Christmas Brunch Friday, December 2nd , at 9:30 am. Please sign up at the front desk and bring a dish to pass. Shirley Bridges will be here with a few sur- prises up her sleeve. Please join us for lots of fun and prizes! Happy Holidays to all!
