MOST IN STOCK, NO WAIT! PETS • LIVESTOCK PETS • LIVESTOCK Do We Have A Choice? By: Evangelist W.C. "Dub" Dellinger Age 93 Yes, you better bet that we have a choice. The only trouble is some don't want to make a choice. They have been tricked by satan and they say they get along fine, why seek a change. A coun- try preacher once said that is a fool speaking and without knowing the worth of what is coming from their lips. Study the disciples. One day Peter wanted them to build three tabernacles. He said let us build - all togeth- er build. Now is that not the way a church should be built? Each one give a hand, drive a nail, lay a brick, give an offering. Each one can do something. One thing all can do is pray and when the building is finished, get to work and fill it up with living souls. Remember it is just a building. The people that are reborn are the church that the savior looks for and calls it the church. For any church to grow in numbers, it must have good leaders backed up with good saving grace preach- ing. Without it, the church will stagnate, wither away. Good cooperation with the members and pastor and a lot of praying can cause a church to move forward when it becomes a soul seek- er. Not wanting hell to grow bigger, we must help them to fall out with the devil. Put on some good clean clothes, show the Lord that you care for his house, with knees that know what prayer is worth. It will begin to show across the aisle. If you see someone new or a new fam- ily, introduce your family to them and tell them you are glad that they came today and to come back next Sunday. If you have any spe- cial events coming up invite them to come. Tell them you are going to look for them because you know they will enjoy it. A trophy was presented to them, along with a check for $200 for the school's PTO to use at their discretion. Union Elementary School Wins Rhythm & Roots Run School Participation Award! Union Elementary School can thank a group of young runners led by their running club teacher, Holli Goforth for winning the $200 School Participation award at the Earl Scruggs Center second annual Rhythm & Roots Run. For most of the students, this was their first race. Mrs. Goforth, an accom- plished runner, promotes running to students by helping them train and get involved with community runs. The school participation award was a new feature of the November 5th event with a prize for the K-12 school with the high- est number of students participating in the event. Plaster Family Dentistry sponsored the award this year allowing the winning school to receive a trophy as well as a $200 prize for its PTO. The second annual Rhythm & Roots Run, a 5k and a 10k race was held Saturday, November 5, 2011. The Run which started and ended at the Don Gibson Theatre will raise awareness for the future Earl Scruggs Center: Music & Stories from the American South. Co-chairs Trip Boinest and Will Plaster volunteered to lead the organiza- tional efforts for the Run in part because last year's inaugural event went so well and they wanted to help make the event even better. Both Trip and Will have children who are runners and realize the benefits to youth of participating in a formal run. Tater Family Traveling Circus provided live Americana music to send off the run- ners and welcome them back to the finish. The route wound through the beautiful tree lined streets of Historic Uptown Shelby. The 10k split off and continued through Sunset Cemetery passing Don Gibson's monument and then to the new Sports and Recreation Complex at Shelby City Park before winding back to the Don Gibson Theatre.
