South Mountain Fire & Rescue Free Lipid Shelby Lions Club Yard Sale The Shelby Lions Club will have its fi rst annual yard sale Saturday, October 8th, at the American Legion Building at 1628 South Lafayette Street, Shelby, from 8:00 AM until 2:00 PM. Proceeds will benefi t sight and hearing conservation needs in Cleveland County. Donations will be accepted at the American Legion on Friday, October 7th, from 3:30 until 7:00 PM. NWA Father/Daughter Adventure Weekend New Wilderness Adventures' Father/Daughter Adventure Weekend. Sept 30-Oct 2 at River Ministry Lodge in Rutherfordton NC. The purpose of the weekend is to give the fathers and daughters time in an adventure setting where they can con- nect or re-connect establishing the father as his daughter's knight in shinning armor and mentor all the while growing stronger in the Lord together. Fathers will have the opportunity to affi rm the worth and beauty of their daughters. You will have plenty of bonding experiences through various outdoor activities and you will learn the biblical model of femininity. Don't worry guys. The NWA team will walk with you through this. Possible activities include ball- room dancing, canoeing, hiking, fi shing, boat rides and skeet shoot- ing! Cost $150 per pair ($50 each additional daughter). Daughters 7 and up please. South Mountain Fire & Rescue BBQ & Bluegrass Event The South Mountain Fire & Rescue will hold their BBQ and Bluegrass event on Saturday, October 1, 2011. Beginning at 7:00 until 10:00am Blueridge Healthcare will be providing free blood checks (for best results do not eat anything before coming). At 4:00pm the BBQ and bluegrass begins. Our fi remen make really good BBQ and the Bluegrass music will be excellent. Come out and enjoy yourself. The comedy is based on the rewrite of the movie script by producer David Selznick, screenwriter Ben Hecht and director Victor Fleming. Locked in an office for 5 days, and surviving on a diet of peanuts and bananas, hilarity ensues as the three men act out all the major GWTW roles in order to produce an award-winning script for this well-known movie. Registration begins at 7:30. All proceeds go towards purchasing outdoor equipment to pro- mote healthy living for children. Cost is $18 if your registration is sent in before October 7th and this will guarantee you a shirt.. Cost on race day is $23. They will also offer a FREE Kids Fun Run for ages 12 and under.
