Ford Martin, 81, of Hickory Grove, SC passed away on Sunday, September 18, 2011. Services were held at Broad River Baptist Church of Smyrna, SC. Internment followed in the church cemetery. Mrs. Martin was preced- ed in death by her parents, William Ford and Lillie Mae Davis Ford and three broth- ers, Wade Ford, Rob Ford, Charles (Rocky) Ford and two sisters, Roberta Whitaker and Louise Short. She is survived by her husband Grady Martin of the home; two sons, Ronnie S. Martin and wife Linda of York, SC and Randall B Martin of Hickory Grove, SC; one daughter, Teresa Martin of Hickory Grove; two sisters, Betty Hollifield of Blacksburg, SC and Shirley Hawkins of Kings Mountain, NC; five grandchildren and 8 great- grandchildren. Gordon Mortuary of Blacksburg, SC is serving the family. GEORGE STEPHEN "STEVE" McWHIRTER Mr. George Stephen "Steve" McWhirter, 60, of Shelby, NC, passed away on Monday, September 19, 2011. Services were held at Sandy Run Baptist Church. Burial was held in the church cemetery. Mr. McWhirter was pre- ceded in death by his father, George Ray McWhirter; his father-in-law, Joseph Osnie Peeler, and a brother-in-law, Steven Luckadoo. He was preceded in death by his first wife, Rosa Lee Lail Carr; his parents, Laddie and Rosanna Carr and numerous brothers and sisters.
