It all started at 2 p.m. with a meet and greet time, followed by a special program and then a great supper. Familiar faces and many who spent their entire working days in the mills attended and celebrated “a different time.” They all talked about the mill houses they lived in and with- out exception said they would “do it again.” It was a cheerful event just ask anyone who was there. –M. A. Andrews Above, the crowd reaches out for the donated stuffed animals that were tossed out for the kids of all ages. Right, Aaron Tippin brings his enthusiasm, songs and antics on stage to the delight of the crowd. The annual fund raising con- cert for the Cleveland-Rutherford Kidney Association took place at Gardner-Webb University’s Lutz-Yelton Convocation Center this past Saturday. Travis Powell, the opening act, got the crowd in a great mood and closed out with tossing stuffed donated animals to the pleasure of the audience. Then with wild enthusiasm the All-American Aaron Tippin came on stage and brought down the house. –M. A.
