Page 26 - shelby shopper & info - 704/484-1047 Cleveland County Schools Kidz Around Summer Child Care Program Cleveland County Schools Kidz Around is currently accepting reg- istrations for 2011 Summer Child Care Program. Cleveland County SCHOOLS The Kidz Around Child Care will begin our summer pro- gram at ELIZABETH SCHOOL on June 13, 2011 and operate through August 24, 2011 (day before school starts). The pro- gram is open to any child who is enrolled in Cleveland County Schools. The program will operate from 6:30 a.m.–6:00 p.m. The cost will be $85.00 per week, $80.00 per week for addi- tional siblings. The weekly fee includes the cost for all field trips; parents are responsible for any meals purchased while on field trips and spending money the child may need. Students will be charged on a weekly basis and WILL NOT BE CHARGED FOR THE FULL WEEKS THEY DO NOT ATTEND. Payment is due on Monday in advance each week. We will participate in the Cleveland County Schools Free Lunch Program. The date the lunches will begin will be determined at a later time. We will provide a weekly menu for parents with children enrolled in the program. A snack will be provided in the morn- ing and afternoon. The program will provide safe, well-supervised activities for grades k-5 (students entering kindergarten and students entering the 6th grade). Children will be divided into separate groups depending on grade and enrollment. Other activities will be geared toward age and will include water days; and swimming for 2nd – 5th Grades. The summer program will be going on field trips, which will be determined at a later date. All students will be required to purchase a $10.00 camp T-shirt to wear on each field trip. A full set of operational policies and field trips along with a weekly schedule will be available to parents with children in the program. The Sky’s the Limit! Allen 1-1/2 cups sugar 1/4 cup cornstarch 1/4 teaspoon salt 2 cups water 1 (3 oz.) Strawberry Gelatin 3 cups Strawberries 1 pie shell, Baked 1 container Whipped Topping Bring to boil; sugar, corn- starch, salt and water. Add strawberry gelatin, stir well. Let Cool. Add strawberries to baked pie shell. Pour syrup over straw- berries. Cover with whipped top- ping. (for a Peach Pie, use sliced peaches and peach gelatin.) STRAWBERRY PUDDING By: Eugene F. Allen 2 cups fresh strawberries, sliced 1 (3 oz.) box strawberry gelatin 2 boxes Instant Vanilla Pudding 2 cups milk 1 small carton sour cream 1 box Vanilla Wafers 1 (8 oz.) container Cool Whip (any other brand can be used) Mix strawberries and gelatin (don’t add water) in saucepan. Heat until gelatin dissolves; then set it aside. Mix pudding and milk until it becomes thick, then stir in sour cream and Cool Whip, mix well. Alternate layers in this order: wafers, strawberry mixture and pudding. Chill 3 to 4 hours before serving. STRAWBERRY SALAD By: Eugene F. Allen 1 small can crushed pineapple 1 (3 oz.) boxes strawberry gelatin 1 pound strawberries, sliced 3 bananas, mashed Drain juice from pineapple, add enough water to juice to equal 2 cups liquid. Bring to boil, dissolve gelatin in liquid. Add 1 cup cold water. Cool until thickened. Add strawber- ries, bananas and pineapple. Pour into 9x13 inch pan. chill until set. Yield: 15 servings EASY STRAWBERRY DESSERT 1-1/2 cups boiling water 1 pkg. (3 oz.) Jell-O Strawberry Flavor Gelatin 1 tub (6 oz.) Cool Whip Dips Strawberry Creme (do not thaw), divided 1 cup sliced fresh strawberries Add boiling water to gelatin mix in large bowl; stir 2 min. until completely dissolved. Add 2/3 of the frozen Cool Whip Dips; whisk until Cool Whip is completely melted and mixture is well blended. Refrigerate remaining Cool Whip for later use. Spoon berries into 5 des- sert cups; cover with gelatin mixture. Refrigerate 2 hours or until set. Top with remaining Cool Whip just before serving.
