Competition Best Yet Perhaps the best Cleveland County student competition ever was this year! The show was infused with an array of amazing talent. All students presented tremendous renderings in all categories. Pictured here is Alex Tillman for his pencil drawing entitled “Ferruginous”. He took “Best of Show! He is an 11th grade student at Shelby High School. His teacher, Kenny Walker, who is an award winning artist for his renderings of pencil art was the subject of a special feature in Shelby Shopper & Info several years ago. Thousands Enjoy Shelby City Parks "Merry Go Round" Festival Thousands Enjoy Shelby City Parks "Mer Go Round" Festival Workmen finish another day of work at the Cleveland County Courthouse uptown. The courthouse has been completely gutted and work is in progress to create the Earl Scruggs Center. The Destination Cleveland County project is the second of its kind. The first was the creation of the Don Gibson Theatre. It is a con- tinuance of moving Shelby and Cleveland County forward. Destination Cleveland County is a non-profit organization made up of passionate citizens committed to preserving the culture of Cleveland County. –M. A.
