Thursday, May 5-May 11, 2011 It’s A www.shelbyinfo.com It’s A Good LifeGood Life Find Their Perfect Fit The Council on Aging/Senior Center (100 T.R. Harris Drive, Shelby, NC) will host a FREE CarFit Program on May 18, 2011 from 10:00 am – 12:00 noon. CarFit is an edu- cational program developed by the American Society on Aging in collaboration with AARP, American Occupational Therapy Association and AAA that offers older adults the opportunity to check how well their personal vehicles “fit” them. Mature drivers should make safety a personal priority as driving is more difficult today than ever because of the increase in traffic, larger vehicles and faster speeds. Taking measures to ease driving stress and enhance safety is a great way to adapt to these changes. One thing older drivers can do is to make changes to their vehicles to make it “fit” better. These adjustments will help drivers feel more comfortable and in better control of their vehicles. During your appointment, a trained professional will ask you simple questions and complete a 12-point CarFit checklist as you drive up to the check point. The entire process takes about 20 min- utes and you leave with recommended car adjustments and adapta- tions as well as a list of resources in your area and a greater peace of mind. You may need an adaptive device or just a repositioning of a mirror or the seat. Appointments are required and may be made by calling the Shirley Wright Neal Senior Center Volunteer Of The Year Neal Senior Center COMMODITY REGISTRATION Tuesday, Wednesday & Thursday May 10th 11th & 12th Must be pre-registered to pick up commodities at the Neal Sr. Center.
