Then, when we beat Smoky Mountain, it changed my mind and thought we could go all the way. Z h Nil P i # Rh H t DB ki Zachary Niles Price, # 26, “Zach”: When we won the championship, my first thought was - wow! I loved playing in the Dean Dome where so many greats have played. It was also fun to practice at Cameron Indoor Stadium. To me, this Cavalier team seemed to be a team of destiny! Raheem Hampton, #11: We made history! The first East basket- ball team in 47 years to win a state champion- ship. I’m happy for our seniors and our coach and I give most of the credit to our three seniors. They, espe- cially “Zach”, motivated us to be the best. Devonte Boykins #12: I figured we had a chance. When we finally won, no words could explain the feel- ing. It was awesome. When the final horn blew and the game was over, it was unbe- lievable. It means a lot to be the first East team to do it. James Theodore Travis Flack, #22, “Mr. Lockdown”: I really never thought this would happen. For me, it all changed when we played Smoky Mountain. After coming back from a 10 point deficit I felt convinced we could go all the way. It was just a matter of believing in ourselves. James Theodore Watkins, “T.J.”, #23: When we started I didn’t think we’d go this far. As the season progressed I definitely became believer. I’m unable to describe the feeling I had when we won the champion- ship. We’re a come- back team and a better second half team. m.a. andrews ©Community First Media ©
