Caregivers To Be Honored With Prizes To honor caregivers, a local coalition is offering prizes for caregivers who register during the month of November, which is National Caregivers Month. The coalition is called Journey: A Partnership for End-of-Life Issues, which recognizes caregivers through ongoing programs to educate and support the family members who care for those who are ill or disabled. If you care for someone, you are invited to register at one of three locations in Cleveland County: Care Solutions at 208 E. Grover St. in Shelby (across the street from Cleveland Regional Medical Center) between the hours of 8 a.m. and 5 p.m. Monday through Friday; or either location of Life Enrichment Center Adult Day Care, 222 Kings Mountain Blvd. in Kings Mountain (across from the KM Intermediate School) and 103 T.R. Harris Dr. in Shelby (across from the Neal Senior Center) between the hours of 6 a.m. and 6 p.m. Monday through Friday. A drawing will be held weekly for prizes donated by area businesses and individuals. You may register once a week. Winners will be notified to pick up their prizes. The ReStore is located at 323 West Grover St. in Shelby, our regu- lar business hours are Tuesday-Friday 10 am – 6 pm and Saturdays 8 am – noon. We carry a wide selection of items such as Christmas supplies, books, lamps, lighting, tables, clothing, building supplies, tools, appliances, furniture, collectibles, doors, plumbing supplies, electrical items, office workstations, and too many items to list. All proceeds benefit our local Habitat for Humanity, and benefits glob- ally through our tithes to HFH International. If you haven’t been to our store, now’s the time to come and see what we have to offer; if you have been it’s time come back for a great deal on that special item you didn’t even know we had. Handel’s Messiah at Ambassador Baptist College The public is cordially invited to kick off the Christmas season with Ambassador Baptist College’s annual presentations of George Freidrich Handel’s Messiah. On Friday, November 26, and Saturday, November 27, the 100-voice chorale and selected soloists will be singing excerpts of this baroque masterpiece. The doors will open each night at 6:15 p.m., and the concert will start at 7:00 p.m. Both concerts will be held in the R.A. Torrey Auditorium and are free of charge. Songs include For Unto Us A Child Is Born, Worthy Is the Lamb, and the world-famous Hallelujah Chorus. Please plan to come early since seating is limited. A nursery for young children will be provided. At the conclusion of the concert, a love offering will be received. Ambassador Baptist College is a private, four-year college dedicated to training young people for ministry. We want to invite any cancer survi- vors who are interested to ride on the float. Relay for Life supporters are also welcome to participate by riding or walking with the float. Life Enrichment Center The Parkinson’s Support Group will meet Tuesday, Nov. 30, at 6:30 p.m. at the Life Enrichment Center in Shelby. Anyone diagnosed with Parkinson’s or a family member is invited to attend the program, which is free of charge and open to the public. No reservations are required. Vickie Wyatt will be presenting a pro- gram on creating a legacy. The meetings are a place to gain informa- tion about new developments, medicines and treatments and a place to connect with others who are experiencing similar life situations. Distribution of Surplus Commodities The Shelby Lions Club will be distributing food on December 1st at the Cleveland County Fair Ground. There will be fifteen items for distribution. Those who wish to come to the fairground on Wednesday, December 1st and fill out an application will only need some identification and must live in Cleveland County. Because of the size of this distribution, you must bring a box or large bag that will hold the food. If a person is unable to come in person, they may send a note with the number of the family, their address and their whole family income, signed by them. The distribu- tion is based on the number in the family and the income. Auditions for Hats, the Musical! AUDITIONS for HATS, the Musical! Greater Shelby Community Theatre is holding auditions for HATS, the Musical, which celebrates women over 50 and the mission of the Red Hat Society. Auditions will be held Friday Dec. 3 from 7:30-9 and Sat. Dec.4 and Sun. Dec. 5 from 2-5pm in the basement of the CC Arts Council,111 S.Washington St., Shelby.
