First Baptist Boy Scout Troop #101 collected three truckloads of food. Gentlemen from the Master’s House received a years supply of goods that were gathered and donated by the scouts. Boy Scout leaders, Al Hansen, Jim Myers, Carl Anderson, Steve Put- nam, and Wes Stevens got their 32 scout members involved again in this year’s annual food drive. This is the fi fth year that the Boy and Cub Scouts have participated. Over 6,000 lbs. of food and goods was collected and given to the Master’s House. The Master’s House is a Christian home for men, that pride themselves in going the second mile for Christ. Registration is now open for the December 19th parade that graces the streets with its rich history through uptown Shelby. The parade will begin at 3 pm and will be held rain or shine. Get your company, civic organiza- tion, non-profit, family or your pets involved in the Shelby Christmas Parade and show your holiday spirit and have a lot of fun. In recognition of Shelby being cho- sen to display the Smithsonian Exhibit “New Harmonies: Celebrating American Roots Music” at the Don Gibson Theatre we are choos- ing to make the theme of the 2010 Christmas parade about Roots Music. Maybe there’s a member of your group who plays the fiddle or banjo. Church groups could do a gospel or bluegrass song with a Christmas lyric.
