John was born to the late Edward Pinkney and Bettsie Martin Blanton in Cherokee County, SC. In addition to his parents he is preceded in death by an infant son, John Richard Blanton; daughter, Susan Marie Coyle; and two sons-in-law, Ray Cline and Sammy Coyle. Mr. Blanton served our country in the U.S. Army. John is survived by his wife, Thelma Goforth Blanton; children, Jerry Blanton (Rosalyn), Debra Hoppes, Sandra Cline, Steven "Stevie" Blanton and John Henry Coyle (Lindsey); four grandchildren; and eight great grandchildren. (Jim) Cummings, sons John A. Cummings and James D. (Danny) Cummings, and brothers James Gold, Robert Gold, Dan Gold, and Doug Gold. She is survived by her son, Mark Cummings, and his wife, Laura; two broth- ers, Bill Gold and wife, Pat of Forest City, N.C. and Phil Gold and wife, Diana of Columbia, SC; one sister, Elizabeth Revels of Shelby; four grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.
