The race was between all homecoming contestants and their escorts. at the first stage of this race, the homecoming contestants would gear up in gloves, coats, hats, and boots as fast as they could. They would then run to the opposite side of the court where their escorts stood waiting. The contestants took off all their winter clothing so that their escorts could put it on. Once the escorts were all geared up, they both would run to half-court where the escorts would turn the home- coming contestants into a snowman by wrapping them with three rolls of toilet paper and taping paper buttons and carrots in respective places. a fter the race, recognition was given to all the girl's and boys' winter sports teams. each team then chose two people to compete in the pep rally's next event where they were given frozen shirts and socks to put on. even the best athletes seemed to struggle to do this because they first had to defrost the clothes. The last game of the pep rally was between all the ju- nior homeroom classes. In a game called "skin the snake" the homeroom classes each had to hold hands while the first person would lie down, then the rest would walk backward over them to do the same, all while keeping a hold of each other. Once everyone was laying down on their backs, they would get up and do the same thing in reverse so everyone would be standing again. To finish off the race, the homeroom class- es would run to the opposite side of the basketball court holding hands, and the first class to reach that point was the winner. The neon Homecoming dance saturday, January 21, was after the basketball game in the middle school gym for all Pike Central High school- ers to enjoy. at the entrance, there was neon paint and glow sticks for people to use. The gym floors even had black lights taped to them to high- light everyone's neon paint and/or clothing. It was a fun- filled night of dancing and at one point there was even an intense game of duck-duck- goose on one side of the gym.
