NOTES Continued from page 3 Wednesday, Januar y 25, 2023 The Press-Dispatch D-4 PAWS WEEK PAWS WEEK Pet of the CASH "I know I'm just a dog but...If you feel sad, I'll be your smile. If you cry, I'll be your comfort, and if someone breaks your heart, we can use mine to live. I'll always be by your side"—Your rescue dog. This week PAWS is featuring and energet- ic young canine named Cash, who is very agile and will play any game you propose to him. He is a responsive and intelli- gent fellow who has great herding instinct, a Border Collie with a hint of Aus- tralian Shepherd heritage, has chocolate brown fur with white accents and big green eyes. He is a medium sized dog and is housebroken. To adopt Cash, call 812-354-9894. matter what tent you pick, we all end up at the same place. Come and go between tents as much as you like. Sample Wicca, try astrology, it real- ly doesn't matter. You don't even need a tent. You are fine where you are. This is the big- gest danger to the traditional church—you are fine, just like you are!" John says God so loved the world that he gave his only begotten son. Whoever be- lieves in him will have eter- nal life. To believe in Christ begins with repentance. Mark in his gospel says Jesus preached repent and do the gospel. The apostles preached repentance. Today the issue is repent from what? The big tent says you don't need to. Cardinal Pell called the en- tire process—of becoming a big tent—a "toxic nightmare." We protestants can readily amen his concerns. The mes- sage of Jesus Christ and him crucified is seldom preached. A progressive pseudo-gospel has replaced it. Many traditional congre- gants no longer feel welcome in their own church. The re- sult of the "big tent" experi- ment is the tent is burning down. Clowns entertain the crowd while the band plays on. The real enlighten sees the unfolding peril and is stampeding for the exits. In short, the tent will not fill up. Benedict's contending for the faith ruffled many feath- ers. It pained him to see his church lurching left following the protestant example. Traditional protestants have been watching an un- folding train wreck. The train jumped the tracks years ago and is still careening out of control. When and where will it come to a rest? Jesus said in the world we have tribulation. But be of good cheer. "I have overcome the world." It was the institutional re- ligion that crucified him. He rose victorious over it. We can do the same. vices. Come and worship Je- sus with us. I can remember pumping gasoline for a man named Doc Hardison at his Gulf gas station. I worked for Doc about a year, when I would have enough off duty time to do so. The ocean was about 19 miles from Cherry Point and we also spent lots of time enjoying the beach. We have good memories of our four years in the ser- vice but I do feel remorse for my friends who were in Nam doing the fighting, because it had to be terrible for them. Through it all someone asked once if I would mar- ry at such a young age and would I have done anything differently and to that I say if my honey would have me again I would have her in a heartbeat and we would still be very happy. I suppose there are times that I am becoming politically minded because this budget situation and our powers-that- be keep talking about social security payments being held up. Correct me if I'm wrong, but Social Security is not an entitlement, it is something we have worked and paid into for years. I have worked and paid into Social Security for 45 years so I could rest from labor and have my Social Security help fund my retirement, only to hear the same old threats about not getting my check. I personally would like to hear how they cut their own pay rather than vote themselves a raise and it seems as though that is the one time there isn't an argument. It's time to quit playing with people's live- lihoods and fix what needs fixing. Church and Sunday school was good Sunday morning as our teacher has one more lesson to teach about prayer and this week it was about the affirmation where we should pray for those who are al- lowing God to work through their lives. We should pray they re- main the vessel for God that they have become. Well, let's get out there next week and be the blessing we should be and receive unto our lives the blessing which come our way.
