dramatized the real Conklin's actual attempt to free enslaved people as they moved
through Gibson County and stopped at Grier's farm and the Stormont family's home.
Lyles Station School and Museum hosted "Fugitives and Heroes," an Underground
Railroad after-dark experience at the museum Friday night. In a collaboration with
Broadway Players, the museum took attendees by candlelight around the muse-
um grounds to meet local heroes of the Underground Railroad brought to life in a
dramatization of one of the most dangerous and well-publicized escape attempts that
came through Gibson County.Actors accept their applause at curtain call after a dress
rehearsal of "Fugitives and Heroes" Thursday.
