Poplar Street, Petersburg Deadline: 5 p.m. on Monday The Press-Dispatch Wednesday, September 14, 2022 A-5 A ARON DUANE STAFFORD Aaron Duane Stafford, 63, of Petersburg, passed away Saturday, September 3, 2022, at Deaconess Midtown Hospi- tal in Evansville. He was born in Washing- ton, March 13, 1959, to the late Aaron Stafford and Elsie (Emmons) Stafford Austin, and lived in Pike County most of his life. He graduated Pike Cen- tral High School and was a member of the NRA. He worked as a coal miner for Solar Sources and previous- ly owned and operated a heating and air conditioning business for many years. He loved to fish and holds the state record for the largest Asian carp caught weighing 53lbs 8oz which he caught in the White River. He also enjoyed riding motorcycles. He was loved and will be missed. He is sur vived by his children, Shane (Brandy) Staf ford, of Winslow, Mi- chelle (Chris) Jantzen, of Fisher ville, Ky., and Chris (Kaley) Staf ford, of Princ- eton; grandchildren, Desti- ny, Ashton, Cam, and Cr uz Staf ford; and siblings, L ynna Woolsey and Mar ty Staf ford, both of Peters- burg. Meece, 60 of Spurgeon, passed away at 10:15 p.m. on Saturday, Sep- tember 10, 2022, at Deaconess Gateway Hospital in New- burgh. He was born on November 1, 1961 in Chrisney to William and Golda (Blackwell) Meece. He married Tami Jones on July 3, 2012. He was a member of the Winslow Eagles Aerie 2646, and the Winslow American Legion Post #115. He was a ver y loving and thoughtful husband, father, brother, papaw and friend to all who knew him. Sur viving is his wife of 10 years, Tami Meece, two sons, J.P. Meece (Kyndall), of Winslow and Br yan Meece, of Evansville, one daughter, Pau- la Bolin (Robert), of Winslow, step-children Ed Bowen (Tr- ish), Jessica Mason (John), Dallas BeDell (Kristen), and Dillon BeDell, eight grand- children, five brothers, Don Meece (Martha), of Arizona, Gar y Meece (Anita), of Evans- ville, Billy Meece (Chelly), of Winslow, Earl Meece (Jane), of Otwell, and Kenny Meece (Donna), of Petersburg, one sister, Faye Richardson (Rus- sell), of Oakland City, and nu- merous nieces and nephews. Preceding him in death were his parents, brothers Larr y and Jimmy Meece, and sister Laura Pearl Heacock. LOIS MAE HARPER Lois Mae Harper, 85, of Petersburg, passed away September 7, 2022, in Jas- per. She was bor n August 18, 1937, to Virgil and Piney (Hendrickson) Conrad in Pike County. She was mar ried to Foster Willis of Peters- burg for 27 years. After his death, she mar ried Kenneth "Zeke" Harper of Winslow. She was a proud mem- ber of the Winslow Gener- al Baptist Church and was a registered nurse for 31 years working at various places. She is sur vived by her step-children, Bonnie Harper and Ron Harper; two step-daughters; three s t e p - g r e a t - g r a n d c h i l d r e n ; sisters, Thelma Hayes, of Pendleton and Cr ystal Hale, of Mishawaka; many nieces and nephews; and many great-nieces and great-nephews. She is preceded in death by her parents; both hus- bands, Foster Willis and Kenneth "Zeke" Harper; sister, Marjorie Williams; and her devoted cat, Pre- cious. Ser vices was at 1 p.m. EST on Saturday, Septem- ber 10, 2022, at Har ris Fu- neral Home, in Petersburg. Burial followed at Walnut Hills Cemeter y. Visitation was from 11 a.m. until ser vice time. In lieu of flowers dona- tions may be made to PAWS, of Petersburg. Har ris Funeral Home is entr usted with her care. MELVIN E. D eCISTO Melvin E. DeCisto, 52, of Oakland City, passed away on Sunday, August 28, 2022, at Deaconess Gateway Hospital in Newburgh. He was born on April 15, 1970, to Rojelio DeCisto and Delphia (Norrick) Howard. He enjoyed working on model cars, fixing up vehicles and fishing. He was a mem- ber of the Eagles Club and the American Legion, both of Winslow. He is sur vived by his moth- er, Delphia Howard; and his sister, Becky Grissom. He is preceded in death by his father, Rojelio DeCisto; his uncles, Ar ville White and Charles Norrick, Jr.; and his grandparents, Ruthy May and Charles Norrick, Sr. The family would like to extend their special thanks to the staff of the Waters for their caring support during this dif- ficult time. Simple Cremation Evans- ville is entrusted with his care. LARRY RICHARD HOUCHINS Larr y Richard Houchins, 82, of Chandler, passed away September 13, in Evansville. He was born April 19, 1940 in Monroe City, to Johnson and Sylvia (Robinson) Houch- ins. He graduated from Peters- burg High School Class of 1958 and worked as a project manager for various construc- tion companies throughout his life. He proudly enjoyed taking care of his lawn and his John Deere. Some of his hobbies included golf, fish- ing, and sitting on his front porch. He is sur vived by his wife, Betty Kent Houchins; son, Doug (Nancy) Houch- ins; daughter, Carolyn (Da- vid) Kolley; grandchildren, Amanda (David) Moats, Josh (Kayla) Houchins, and Josh Kolley; great-grandchildren, Amanda, Julian, Ava, Liam, and Rowen; brothers, John Houchins and William (Con- nie) Houchins; nieces and nephews; and grand dogs, Gizmo, Gadget, and Piper Moatsy. He is preceded in death by his parents. A graveside ser vice for Larr y will take place at 11 a.m. EDT on Friday, Septem- ber 16, at Walnut Hills Cem- eter y in Petersburg.
