Poplar Street, Petersburg Deadline: 5 p.m. on Monday MELISA SUE SCR APER Melisa Sue Scraper, 65, of Winslow, went to be with the angels on Thursday, August 11, 2022, at the University Of Louisville Hospital at 10 :04 p.m. She was born May 1, 1957, to Mansfield and Rosemary McBeth, in Harris County, Texas. She always had a smile to give someone. She was a devoted wife, loving mother, and grandmother. She is survived by her hus- band, Michael Scraper; sons, Michael Jr., of Winslow, Cory, of Oakland City, and Travis, of Holland; daughter, Mel- anie, of Huntingburg; and eight grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents; two brothers, Robert and David; and sister, Pamela Fleener. There will not be a public viewing. Donations in honor of Meli- sa may be made to the charity of your choice. Harris Funeral Home is en- trusted with her care. DONALD E. BREWER, Donald E. Brewer, 87, of Oakland City entered into rest on Wednesday, August 10, 2022, at Good Samaritan Home in Oakland City, sur- rounded by his loving family. Don was born on March 14, 1935, to the late Brady and Isil Fern Brewer. He attended Oakland City High School and graduated in 1953. He served in the United States Army for 2 years. He earned his Bachelor's Degree in Mathematics at Oakland City College and a Master's Degree in Educational Guid- ance Counseling at Indiana State University at Terre Haute. He taught math for four years in Warrick County Schools. He also taught math at Wood Memorial High School in Oakland City and served as guidance counsel- or retiring in 1995 after 32 years. He is survived by his wife, Vivory (Brittingham) Brewer to whom he was married for 64 years; daughter, Donna (Tom) Vieke; three grand- daughters; five great-grand- children; sister, Mary ( John) Goodson; and several nieces and nephews. Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by his son, Daniel Ray Brewer; brothers, Morris and Ronald (his twin); and a sister, Marilyn Sue Ar- burn. Funeral services will be at 1 p.m. CST on Wednesday, Au- gust 16, 2022, at Lamb-Bash- am Memorial Chapel, in Oak- land City, with Pastor Matt Malin officiating. JUDY K AY CLEMENTS Judy Kay Clements, 74, for- merly of Washington, passed away August 5, 2022 in Pe- tersburg. She was born June 4, 1948 to Leland and Alice Marie (Browning) Brady in Wash- ington. She graduated from Washington High School, Class of 1967 and worked for 15 years at Head Start in Washington as a Family Ser- vice Worker. She is survived by her sons, Brian Stinnett, Jake Clark and Jeremy Clark; daughter, Stacey Brumfield; grand- children, Payton, Jaidyn and Aspen Clark; sisters, Carol Brady and Dixie Miller. She is preceded in death by her parents. No services are planned at this time. Harris Funeral Home is entrusted with care. MICKEY J. McGUINN Mickey J. McGuinn, 67, of Oakland City, passed away Thursday, August 4, 2022, at Deaconess Gateway Hospital in Newburgh. He was born October 7, 1954, in Terre Haute, to the late William McGuinn and Katherine (McCrocklin) Mc- Guinn Hare. He served in the United States Army from 1973 to 1977 and worked as a truck driver for Sterling Trucking. He moved to the Oakland City about 4 years ago from Petersburg. He enjoyed fish- ing at lakes and ponds and will be missed. He is survived by his daughters, Misty McGuinn, of Princeton and Jessica (Scott) Newton, of Boon- ville; six grandchildren; brothers, Bob McGuinn, William McGuinn, Mark McGuinn, Brett McGuinn, Jack McQuinn, David Hare and Lyle Hare; and sisters, Kathy Johnston and Kelly McGuinn. WILLIAM "JOE" BRENTON William "Joe" Brenton CSM USA Retired, 72, of Petersburg, passed away Au- gust 10, 2022. He was born December 11, 1949 to David Joseph and Beatrice (Colvin) Brenton in Washington. He graduated from Peters- burg High School in 1967 and proudly served in the United States Army and retired af- ter 35 years of service. While serving he earned ranks such as Platoon Sergeant, 1st Ser- geant, and Battalion Sergeant Major and was stationed in various places throughout his service such as Herzo Base West Germany, Asmara Ethi- opia ASA Field Station, and Kandahar Air Field Garrison. Joe retired as a Command Sergeant Major. He worked for Artec divi- sion Kimball Int. for 20 years and retired from Norfolk Southern Railroad after 10 years. He was also a member of the Winslow American Le- gion, the Petersburg VFW Post #3587, and Petersburg Moose Lodge #1617. He was married to Janet Elaine Selby from 1972 to 1994 and is survived by sons, Jeremy and Joshua Brenton and grandson, Kage Bren- ton. He married his surviving wife, Marie Ann McCormick in 1997 and is survived by son Douglas McCormick and grandsons, Quintin McCor- mick and Greysen McCor- mick. He is also survived by his brothers, James "Leroy" Brenton and Kevin Dale Brenton. He is preceded in death by his parents and brothers, Robert Wayne Brenton and Heber Eugene Brenton. Graveside services was at 1:30 p.m. EDT on Monday, August 15, at Walnut Hills Cemetery in Petersburg. Visitation was from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. prior to the service at Harris Funeral Home in Petersburg.
