CHARLOT TE N. SMITH Charlotte Natalie Smith, 94, of Petersburg, passed away April 4, 2022, in Vincennes. She was born July 18, 1927 to Charles and Mollie Deal, in Petersburg. She graduated from Bick- nell High School in 1945. She worked as a secretary at Pike Central High School for over 20 years. She was a long time member of the First Baptist Church in Petersburg. She played the organ and piano since childhood and played for the church, as well as, ma- ny weddings and services. She also volunteered at Good Sa- maritan Hospital in Vincennes for over 20 years. She is survived by her daughter, Jan Nowling, of Bloomington; grandsons, Seth M. Nowling and Colin D. (Lisa) Nowling; great-grand- daughter, Rachel Nowling; brother, William (Linda) Deal, of Indianapolis; sister, Shirley (Ray) Daywalt, of Evansville; many nieces and nephews; great nieces and nephews; great-great nieces and neph- ews; step daughter, Claudia; and step-grandchildren, Jose and Gabriel Soto and Anita Lopez. She is preceded in death by her first husband, Herbert W. Pfrang; her second husband, James Smith; parents, Charles N. and Mollie (George) Deal; son, Michael Pfrang; son-in- law, Steve Nowling; brother, George Deal; and sister, Jean Frederick. A funeral service will take place at 3 p.m. EST on Thurs- day, April 7, 2022, at the First Baptist Church, in Petersburg, with Pastor Mike Miller offi- ciating. Visitation will be from 1 p.m. EST until time of service. Burial will follow at Memorial Cemetery in Bicknell, IN. The family asks that in lieu of flowers that donations please be made to the First Baptist Church of Petersburg and may be mailed to PO Box 43 Petersburg, IN 47567. Har- ris Funeral Home has been en- trusted with her care. TERRY M. SEGER Terry M. Seger, age 58, of Otwell, passed away on Friday, April 1, 2022, in Velpen. He was born August 27, 1963, in Jasper, to Jerome J. and Jeanne ( Wilma) Seger; and married Brenda Enlow on December 31, 1998. He was a 1982 graduate of Jasper High School; and was employed at Kimball Inter- national for 40 years. He was a member of Otwell United Methodist Church. He enjoyed mowing and taking care of the family campground at Doolit- tle Mills with his son. He al- so enjoyed cutting wood, rid- ing his Harley Davidson, good food, long naps and whatever made his wife happy. He is survived by his wife, Brenda Seger, of Otwell; one son, Talon Ray Seger, of Ot- well; three sisters, Linda (Ste- phen) Parker, of Buena Park, Calif., his twin, Sherry Seger, of Bloomington, Ill. and Karen ( John) Garland, of Haysville; three brothers, Steve Seger, of Evansville, Dave (Anita) Seger and Wayne (Bonnie) Seger, both of Jasper; his god- child, Amy Soellner, of Evans- ville; one sister-in-law, Sue Seger; and by several nieces, nephews and great-nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; and one broth- er, Glenn Seger. Funeral services will be at 11 a.m., EDT, Wednesday, April 6, 2022, at Otwell Unit- ed Methodist Church, with Pastor Jeff Pinney officiating. Burial will follow at Fairview Cemetery, in Jasper. LEFFLER Carmen N. Leffler, 104, of Oakland City, passed away April 1, 2022. She was born November 25, 1917 in Knox County to the late Ivel Cooper and Lura ( Wilson) Cooper. She was a homemaker and took care of her family all her life. Like most good women of her time, she was handy in the garden, canning, sewing, quilting, selling eggs, and re- doing furniture upholstery. She was also fond of fishing at the pond, being a member of the homemaker's group at Decker Chapel Church, and her membership to the Rebec- ca Lodge in Hazleton. She will be remembered for how much love she gave her family and will be missed. She is survived by her sons, Dale (Sue) Leffler and Robert (Diana) Leffler, both of Oak- land City; 5 grandchildren; 4 step-grandchildren; and nu- merous great and great-great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Jes- se H. Leffler in 2013; son, Ken- neth Leffler; grandsons, Kevin and Eric Leffler; and siblings, Samuel Cooper, Elden Cooper, Lucille Daughtery, and Aline Haverstock. A funeral service will be at 1 p.m. Wednesday, April 6, 2022, at Corn-Colvin Funer- al Home, in Oakland City, of- ficiated by Pastor Matt Malin. Interment will follow at Mont- gomery Cemetery, in Oakland City. A visitation will be from 11 until time of service at the fu- neral home Wednesday. "Jimmy JT" Thompson, 61, of Bicknell, passed away at 11:10 am on April 3, 2002. He was born on July 26, 1960, to the late James J. and Mildred Thompson, of Bruceville. He attended North Knox High School and worked for the Knox County Highway De- partment for thirty-five years as a road grater operator. He is survived by his girl- friend of twenty years, Tammy Cavenaugh; son, Andrew B. (Kristi) Thompson, of Peters- burg; daughter, Laura L. (fian- ce, Logan Ravellette) Thomp- son, of Monroe City, IN; eight grandchildren; sister, Julie (Steve) Schulze, of Oaktown; five nieces; and one nephew. He is preceded in death by his parents; sister, Janice; brother, Bruce; as well as, eighteen aunts and uncles. HALE Marilyn Jane Hale, 80, of Indianapolis, passed away on Monday, March 28, 2022. She was born to the late Wil- liam Townsend and Marjorie Sharp on March 2, 1942. She grew up in Princeton. She met her beloved husband, Walter, at a family church event where she played the accordion and he sang a song along with her. Their love blos- somed from that day and they went on to build a wonderful life together. She lived her life as a joyful servant of her Sav- ior. As a young girl she could be found sitting in a front pew of the church where her dad- dy was the pastor. A fter some time, Walter and Marilyn brought their family to join First Baptist Church of Beech Grove where she served in numerous areas, in- cluding, Women's Ministries and as president of the Mis- sions Ministry program. She enjoyed her travels on mission trips to Papua New Guinea and Mexico. Her greatest joy was always found in Children's Ministry. She developed biblical curric- ulum and served as a strong leader to teach children about the love of Jesus. In her later years, she became a mem- ber of Pleasant View Baptist Church in Indianapolis. She served as the church secre- tary and continued her spir- itual leadership in their Chil- dren's Ministry program. She is survived by her hus- band of 62 years, Walter Hale; two children, Deborah (Mat- thew) Case and Gregory (Tes- sa) Hale; seven grandchil- dren; five great-grandchil- dren; and two siblings, Joyce Beloat and Donald Townsend. She was predeceased in death by both parents; and her sister, Carol Townsend. A funeral service was at noon on Friday, April 1, 2022, at the Forest Lawn Funeral Home (1977 S State Rd 135, Greenwood, IN 46143), with burial at Forest Lawn Memo- ry Gardens.
