Mark Wade, Deacon FIRST CHRIS- TIAN CHURCH 1400 E. Main Street Petersburg 812-354-6775 Worship with us Sunday morning at 10 :30 a.m. Learning to Live with Change All of us have done it. Some better than others. Change has always been a part of life, but probably not as radical since we have learned and experienced the Corona vi- rus, i.e. Covid 19. We've been forced to adapt. Circumstances demanded it. While some, if not most of the changes in response to Covid have been necessary, those changes will have lasting im- pact. Multiple aspects of our lives are affected. From shop- ping and school, to travel and empty shelves at the grocery, life has been altered; at least for some time to come. Churches have certainly felt the impact in numbers. In most communities, large and small across the country, attendance has been down. Some churches have sur- vived very well and have even experienced some growth over the past two plus years. However, that's not the case with most churches. Many churches were already expe- riencing decline, and when Covid came, were forced to close their doors and unfor- tunately, list their proper- ties for sale. Other churches have opted to do online ser- vices, but, in my opinion, on- line churches miss the mark for what God has called the church to be and to do. The CDC has now an- nounced a relaxing of masks requirements. Good sign… we hope. It is my prayer that we get back to being the church in our community; that we get back to loving, caring and helping with the needs of peo- ple in our community, both spiritual and physical. God's promise is ours for the claiming, whatever cir- cumstances confront us. He says, "Never will I leave you or forsake you." We've been through some difficult times, but He is al- ways present. Also, "Kindness is a hard thing to give away; it usually comes back." Hwy. 61 Spurgeon Pastor Cell 812-202- 8903 or church office 812-922-8215 Church service 9 a.m.; Fri- day Bible study at 1 p.m. Scripture: Proverbs 3:24. "When you lie down, you will not be afraid (and) your sleep will be sweet." Maybe we all need a "mid- dle-of-the-night" song, prayer or Bible verse to softly whis- per to help us shift our jum- bled-up thoughts to a mind fully focused on God and His character. A clear conscience and a heart full of gratitude for God's faithfulness and love can bring us sleep that's sweet. How might turning to God when you can't sleep give you peace? What song, prayer or Scrip- ture can you meditate on to help you focus on God? Dear God, "thank you for loving me. Help me to focus on Your faithfulness instead of the worries of this life," Amen. Josh Sanders, Pastor Sherry Julian, Reporter WHITE RIVER CHAPEL UMC 3555 W. SR 56 Bowman 812-582-8896 Sunday worship 9 a.m.; Sun- day school 10 :15 a.m. We are exploring the words in Philippians 4:4-9 and how they can help us thrive in cha- os. So many trials come into our lives and along with the business of life. These things can easily choke out the Life of God in us. But praise God, "But seek ye first the King- dom of God, and His righteous- ness; and all these things will be added unto you" (Matthew 6:33). What things will be added? God's order back into our lives— a peace that passes all under- standing—He is in control. Facebook: White River Chapel UMC, Jeff Pinney.
