Stephanie Coleman • Krystal Breeding VICKY SUE BURKHART Vicky Sue (Collins) Bur- khart, 70, of Petersburg, passed away February 25, 2022 at Memorial Hospital in Jasper. She was born August 27, 1951, in Washington, to Cleo and Evelyn ( Wilson) Collins. She married Donald L. Bur- khart on March 20, 1970 at the Church of God in Petersburg. They were happily married for almost 52 years. She graduated from Peters- burg High School in 1969 and Evansville Beauty College. She spent her entire work ca- reer as a beautician. Vicky owned and operated the Cot- tage Beauty Salon in Peters- burg for 35 years. She also attended the First Church of God in Petersburg. The light of her life were her children and later her grand- children. She greatly enjoyed following all of their activities over the years from dance, to sports, to music, to dramatic productions. She loved to cook and have her family around her especially for Sunday din- ners, special occasions and holidays. She also enjoyed traveling and taking cruises with friends and family. She is survived by her hus- band, Donald; three children, Christopher (Anisia) Bur- khart, Bradley (Michelle) Bur- khart and Sara (Nick) Willis; grandchildren, Chloe Willis, Maxwell Burkhart and Jack- son Burkhart, all of Peters- burg. She is also survived by many extended family mem- bers who she loved dearly. Preceding her in death were her parents. Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. EST on Thursday, March 3, 2022, at the Harris Funeral Home in Petersburg, Pastor Don Fausnaugh will be officiating Visitation will be from 4- 8 p.m. EST on Wednesday, March 2, at the funeral home. Burial will follow at Walnut Hills Cemetery. Harris Funeral Home is en- trusted with her care. MARTHA SUE GR AY Martha Sue Gray, 82, of Vin- cennes, went to Heaven on February 24, 2022. She was born on January 18, 1940, in Petersburg. She graduated from Peters- burg High School. Through- out her life, she worked at the Washington Utility Office, Prestolite in Vincennes, and was the Volunteer Coordinator at Good Samaritan Hospital. In her retirement, she was a hospital volunteer for 17 years. 'Mammaw Martha' also en- joyed spending time with her granddaughters and attending their many activities. She at- tended the Ridgecrest Baptist Church where she made life- long friends. She is survived by her son, Mark (Lynn) Gray, of Vin- cennes; her sister, Patty Beck, of Petersburg; her grand- daughters, Emily (Tyler) Lynn, of Evansville, and Ka- tie Gray, of Bloomington; her nephew, Tim (Denise) Beck, of Winslow; and her niece, Tammy Beck, of Terre Haute. Preceding her in death were her parents, Kenneth and Goldie Logan; her broth- er-in-law, Bob Beck; and her great-nephew, Tyler Beck. Services will be at 10 a.m. on Wednesday, March 2nd, at Harris Funeral Home, in Pe- tersburg. Visitation will be 4-7 p.m. EST on Tuesday, March 1st, at the Harris Funeral Home. Burial will follow in Walnut Hills Cemetery in Petersburg. ROSANNA ILENE ROSS Rosanna Ilene Ross, 82, of Oakland City, went home to be with the Lord on Thurs- day, February 24, 2022. Rosie was born in Macy, on September 6, 1939, to the late Alexander and Sylvia Cole. She graduated from Deeds- ville High School in 1957. She married Bill Ross on June 15, 1957, and moved to Fran- cisco. She was a homemak- er for most of her life and al- so worked for Visiting Nurse and Gibson County Area Re- hab. She was a loving, kind, nurturing, giving, and love- able soul to many, many peo- ple throughout her life. She is survived by her chil- dren, Teresa (Steve) Burnes, of Cynthiana, Angela (Bruce) Hunter and Mike (Kim) Ross, all of Oakland City; she is also survived by her seven grand- children; 10 great-grandchil- dren; her special sister and best friend, Sinda Easter- day and brother Jerry (Sig- rid) Cole; along with nieces; nephews; great nieces; and great nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband of 62 years, William (Bill) Ross; her par- ents; sisters, Alice Keim and Mary Long; brothers, David Cole, Charles Cole, Jim Cole and Francis Cole. To honor Rosanna's wishes there will be no service or vis- itation. Lamb Basham Memorial Chapel is entrusted with her care. SUE K ARNS Sue Karns,81, passed away from this life on Saturday, Feb- ruary 19, 2022, in Vincennes. She was born on Tuesday, October 8, 1940 in Linton. She graduated in 1960 from Lincoln High School. She mar- ried the love of her life, Lar- ry Karns, on August 25, 1962, and was married for 59 won- derful years. She loved her family very much. Spending time with them was very im- portant to her. Riding the golf cart two and three times a day with Larry was her favorite things to do. She loved to play BINGO and B2 was her favor- ite call number. She also loved the outdoors and enjoyed her flowers around the house. She will be deeply missed by all! Those left to cherish her memories include the love of life and best friend, Lar- ry Karns; one daughter, An- gie ( John) Steffy; two grand- daughters; one brother, Robert Peltier; along with other rela- tives and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents, Earl Pershing Howell, Evelyn Theron Fogle Howell, and adopted father, Bob Peltier; one son Larry Otis Karns; and one brother, Earl David Howell. FOX Joyce Marlene Fox, 71, of Petersburg, passed away on Saturday, February 19, 2022, at Golden Living Center. Hunt, 81, of Spur- geon, passed away Friday, February 25, 2022, at the Good Samaritan Nursing Home in Oakland City. He was born January 22, 1941, in Boonville, to Charlie and Gladys Hunt. He was a retired truck driv- er, working for Rose Brothers and Elmer Buchta Trucking for 20 years. He had lived in Spurgeon since 1988 and had attended the Spurgeon United Methodist Church. He is survived by his sis- ters-in-law, Juanita ( Wade) Robinette, of Abingdon, Va., Betty Sue Rose, of Cobern, Va., Ruby Yates, of Clinch- co, Va., Kathy (Archie Ennis) Rose, of Peterstown, W.Va. and Connie ( Jerry Turner) Cress, of Clintwood, Va.; brothers-in- law, Dan (Darlene) Eggers, of Yorkville, Ill. and Jim (Mar- garet) Eggers, of Bristol, Va.; and several nieces and neph- ews. He was preceded in death by his wife of 54 years, Shir- ley (Eggers) Hunt, in 2020 ; his parents; three daughters, Tammy, Jennifer and Patricia Hunt; his brother, Jack Hunt; and his mother-in-law and fa- ther-in-law, James and Hazel Eggers. STEVEN M. FROEHLE Steven "Steve" Michael Froehle, 72, of Washington, Indiana, passed away on Fri- day, February 25, 2022, at his home. He was born in Brookhaven, Miss., on April 28, 1949, to the late Vince and Florence (Hau- ry) Froehle. He was a 1967 graduated of Memorial High School, with two of his high school years at St. Meinrad. He honorably served in the United States Air Force. He worked at Mt. Car- mel Printing Co. and later re- tired in 2016 from Pike Cen- tral High School after 15 years of service. He was a faithful member of St. John's Episco- pal Church. He enjoyed going to flea markets and the state fair. He was a collector and his collections included bells, steam whistles, train horns and walking canes. Because of his collections, his house was called "The Noisy Place." He is survived by his wife of 18 years, Jean (Adkins) Froeh- le, of Washington; stepdaugh- ter, Karen (Chris) Hoover, of Washington; and stepson, Mickey (Kate) Ball, of New Albany; brothers, Paul Froe- hle, of Mountain View, Ariz. and Chuck Froehle, of Peters- burg; step-grandchildren, Blake Hoover and Allison An- derson ( John); and a step- great-grandson, Finn.
