Poplar Street, Petersburg Deadline: 5 p.m. on Monday ROBERT LEE DANIEL TYRING Robert Lee Daniel Tyring, 92, of Jasper, passed away on Sunday, January 16, 2022, at Memorial Hospital and Healthcare Center in Jasper. He was born May 3, 1929, in Evansville, to Elvah Ed- ward and Louella C. (Nord- horn) Tyring. While in school, he enjoyed playing basketball. Robert was a coal miner with UMWA # 9926 for 42 years. He was al- so a farmer and enjoyed work- ing with his horses. He was a member of St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Lynnville, as well as St. Peter's Lutheran Church in Stendal. He is survived by his sec- ond wife, Janet F. (Tisdale) Tyring; four children, Debo- rah (Ralph) Baker, of Indian- anpolis, Marilyn ( James) Mc- Cord, of Ft. Valley, Va., Bobby Gene Tyring, of Oakland City, and Daniel (Carlene) Tyring of Washington; two stepchil- dren, Teresa ( John) Voegerl and Jeff ( Joan) Miley, both of Jasper; a sister, Geneva Plass- meier, of LaPorte; eight grand- children; six step-grandchil- dren; 16 great-grandchildren; and five step-great-grandchil- dren. He was preceded in death by his parents; and his first wife, Beverly (Ingram) Tyr- ing in 2009. Services were at 2 p.m. on Tuesday, January 25, 2022, at 2 p.m. at Nass and Son Fu- neral Home in Huntingburg, with Reverend Jim and Rever- end John McCord officiating. Burial will follow at St. Paul Lutheran Church Cemetery in Lynnville. Visitation was from noon until service time on Tuesday at the funeral home. CYNTHIA ANN (BEE) POSTIN Cynthia Ann (Bee) Postin, 83, went peacefully into the arms of Jesus on Monday, Dec 20, 2021, at 2:05 p.m., with her family at her bedside. She was born on November 12, 1938, in Winslow, to her parents, Esibyl Bee and Orvis Bee, and grew up there with her two sisters, Jackie and Ju- dy. She attended school with her future husband, Shelby Postin, from the first grade at Winslow Elementary to their graduation from Winslow High School. It should be known that they fell in love on the train returning home from their Senior Class trip to Chi- cago, Ill. In 1957, she moved to Boon- ville with her family. She and Shelby were married August 23, 1957, at the First Christian Church in Boonville. They were regular attenders of Bethel Church in Evansville. Both were active there un- til Cynthia's health started to fail in recent years. They were members of the Bible Fellow- ship Class and served togeth- er in several ministries there. Cynthia worked as secre- tary at Oakdale Elementary school in the 1960s, then took college courses to become an accountant and had her own accounting business. She is survived by her hus- band and love of her life of 64 plus years, Shelby Postin; chil- dren, Steven (Tami) Postin; Shelley (Postin) Moran; Mark ( Jerelene) Postin and Martin (Kelly) Postin; 10 grandchil- dren and 21 great-grandchil- dren, all of whom she loved unconditionally with all of her heart; and many nieces, neph- ews and cousins. She was preceded in death by her mother, Esibyl (Ar- buckle) Bee; her father, Orvis Bee; her younger sister, Ju- dy (Bee) Eifler; her brother- in-law, James Eifler; her old- er sister, Jackie (Bee) Finch; her great-granddaughter, El- li Cobb; and many other ex- tended family members and friends. Funeral services will be at 3 p.m. on Saturday, January 29, 2022, at Koehler Funeral Home in Boonville, with Pas- tor David Schwambach, of Bethel Church in Evansville, officiating. The family would like to thank Southern Care Hospice for the end-of-life care they gave to Cynthia and family in her last days. MELTON STILWELL Melton Stilwell, 62, of Pe- tersburg, formerly of Prince- ton, passed away on January 19, 2022, at Jasper Memorial Hospital from complications from an auto accident he had in December. He was born on Septem- ber 11, 1959, to Johnny Wil- liam Stillwell and Phyllis Jane (Stewart) Tucker. On June 7, 1998, he mar- ried the love of his life, Bren- da (Higdon) Stilwell, and they were married for almost 24 years. He worked from a very young age of 14 at Princeton Farms Popcorn Co. He was there until 1994, when the farms closed down. His current boss, Robert (Bob) Smith, with Highway Machine Company, came over and hand-picked five guys. Melton was one of them and the only one of the five still there. He worked for the same family all of his life. He loved to go camping and ride motorcycles. He was an adventurer and loved to trav- el. A couple of his favorite trips were cruises to the Ba- hamas and Hawaii. He was planning on doing more trav- eling with his wife after he retired. He enjoyed spend- ing time with his grands as much as possible. His grand- daughter, Chloe Kelly, was al- ways going on trips with him and Brenda. There were some wonderful memories made on those trips. Anytime Jameson and Oliver were around, there was a wrestling match and so much laughter. Melton en- joyed watching Oliver race his dirt bike and was looking for- ward to a new racing season. They were his world, along with his dog, Dandy. Whenev- er he was watching T V, Dan- dy was right there beside him, his best friend. He is survived by his wife, Brenda; his stepchildren, Amanda (Lloyd) Woods and Clint (Devin) Lloyd; daugh- ter, Ashlee Thorbecke; son, Stewart Stillwell; grandchil- dren, Chloe Kelley, Oliver and Jameson Lloyd; his sis- ter, Madeline (Stilwell) John- son; sister-in-law, Karen Stil- well; many cousins, nieces, and nephews; brothers-in-law, Roger (Kim) Higdon, Char- lie (Mary) Higdon and Jer- ry Higdon; his aunts, Pat (Al- vin) Carrico and Ruth Ham- bey; and uncle, Paul Fulfer. He was preceded in death by his parents, Johnny Stilwell and Phyllis Tucker; his broth- er, Calvin Stilwell; his moth- er-in-law, Jean Higdon; and a step-nephew, Daniel Ray Lo- renz, Jr. Services will be at 2 p.m. EST on Sunday, January 30, 2022, at Harris Funeral Home in Petersburg, with Pastor Brad Keenan officiating. Har- ris Funeral Home is entrusted with his care. RICKEY A. WILLIS Rickey A. Willis, 68, of Winslow, passed away on Jan- uary 20, 2022. He was born April 3, 1953, to Gardner J. Willis and Dixie J. Houchins Willis. He was a graduate of Pe- tersburg High School, Class of 1971, where he excelled in basketball, track and as drum major for the marching band. He attended Oakland City College before he began his 32-year career at Texas Gas Transmission in Hazleton. He continued to play many sports throughout his life, including church softball, volleyball and community basketball. He enjoyed hunting, mo- torcycle riding and being out- doors. He was an avid IU bas- ketball fan and an Indianapolis Colts fan. He enjoyed watch- ing his children's sports activ- ities, including Beth's cheer- leading and track, Amy's swimming and track, and his bonus sons, Lucas' and Alex's football. He also took pride in chauffeuring his bonus daugh- ter, Leslie, on shopping trips. Most recently he loved fol- lowing Alex's high school and college wrestling career. He coached several Pike County youth sports and was known as a coach that ensured all par- ticipants got to play. He was a man of God, musi- cally inclined, sang and played the guitar. He was a member of Gospel Center Church in Petersburg, where he was a choir director for a time and led several cantatas. He is survived by his moth- er, Dixie; his wife of twen- ty years, Sue (Neal) Rob- erts-Willis; his daughters, Beth ( Joe) Lackore and Amy (Mike) Dressel; stepchil- dren, Lucas (Leslie White- head) Roberts, Leslie Roberts and Alex Roberts; his two sis- ters, Teresa ( John) Melhiser and Lisa (Ron) Gladish; and 12 grandchildren, Justin, Em- ma, Naya, Koen, Caleb, Kale, Camren, Nora, Koby, Maddy Jo, Sofia and Grace. He was preceded in death by his father, Gardner, in 2008. A celebration of life and graveside services will be held at a later date. SHELDON R AY "TOUIE" BARRET T Sheldon Ray "Touie" Bar- rett, 79, of Russell Springs, Ky., formerly of Winslow, passed away Tuesday, Janu- ary 18, 2022, at Russell Coun- ty Hospital in Russell Springs. He was born on Monday, October 12, 1942, in Winslow. He attended Winslow High School and then went on to play basketball at Oakland City University. He served as a police officer with Russell Springs and Jamestown Police Departments. He was a former deputy jailer with the Russell County Jail and served as Rus- sell Springs City Council, Po- lice Commissioner and Com- missioner over the Russell Springs City Park. He loved coaching Little League base- ball and basketball. He attend- ed the Solid Rock Tabernacle Church in Russell Springs. He enjoyed thoroughbred horse racing, was very involved in car sales and auctions, and enjoyed playing cards. He is survived by his wife, Janice Blair Barrett; daugh- ters, Lana (Dean) Schmett, of Evansville, and Amy (Rob- ert) Leach, of Anderson; step-children, Diana Porter, Darrin (Melissa) Blair and Kenny Luttrell, all of Russell Springs, Ky; his extra special granddaughter, Chelsea Potts; 12 loving grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; and sev- eral nieces and nephew. He was preceded in death by his parents, Thelda Drew Barrett and Riley Barrett; two brothers, D.C. and Tom Bar- rett; and three sisters, Wanda Ramache, Thelma Jean Austin and Hyla Wathem. Charles "Charlie" Mc- Gowan, Sr., 73, of Francisco, passed away on Friday, Janu- ary 21, 2022, at his home. He was born in Owensboro, Ky., on September 11, 1948, to the late Hubert David Mc- Gowan and Betty (McClure) McGowan. He had been a truck driv- er for many years. He enjoyed working on automobiles, and loved to hunt and fish. He was a member of the Oakland City American Legion Post 256. He is survived by his wife of over 50 years, Vickie (Briggs) McGowan; children, Donny Sample, Kim (Dan) Lynn and Chuck ( Jamie) McGowan; a niece; several grandchildren and great-grandchildren; and brothers and sisters. He was preceded in death by his parents, Dave and Bet- ty McGowan; stepmother, Lou McGowan; and siblings, Hel- en Lamey, Virgil McGowan, Marlin Burkhart and Wanda Jo McGowan. She especial- ly enjoyed spending time with her children, and was a loving mother and wife. Turner, 62, of Winslow, passed away on Tuesday, January 18, 2022, at St. Vincent Hospital in Evans- ville. Wesena M. Turner, 59, followed him in death on Fri- day, January 21, 2022, at Jas- per Memorial Hospital. Daniel and Wesena were married on July 28, 1979. Daniel was born October 19, 1959, in Great Falls, Mont., the son of Paul and Marguerite Turner, both preceding him in death. He worked as a fitter at Four Star Fabricators in Petersburg for the last 31 years. He is survived by his sis- ters, Angela Pyatt, Jenny Haase and Autumn Hansen. Wesena was born on March 10, 1962, in Wabash, to John Edward Powell, Sr., who sur- vives her, and Beverly Ann (Despain) Powell, who pre- cedes her in death. She worked as a homemak- er. She is survived by her brothers, James and John Pow- ell, Jr.; and sister, Christy Pow- ell Hartley. Daniel and Wesena are sur- vived together by their sons, Paul (Rebecca) Turner, Wil- liam (Sapphire Haas) Turn- er, and Wayne (Holly) Turn- er; daughter, Shannon Tart- er; grandchildren, Daniel, Jo- seph, Samuel, Eleanor, Ethan, Gabriel, Braelyn, Jaxon, Rod- ney, Sage and Logan.
