Pike County baseball and softball league sign-ups The Pike County Baseball and Softball League will be holding sign-ups at the Petersburg Little League conces- sion stands on January 31 to February 5, and February 21 through 26, from 6 -8 p.m. during the week and on Satur- days from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. If you have any questions, see the Pike County Baseball and Softball League Facebook page or website. Tri-State Umpire Association looking for umpires The Tri-State Umpire Association, a long-standing Soft- ball Umpire Association in Southern Indiana, is looking for individuals to train as umpires. In the second half the Char- gers started hitting some shots, which allowed them to get into full-court pressure. Four different players had field goals, and Kahle Young was five of five from the free- throw line in the third quar- ter. On the night, she finished nine of nine from the line and added a two and three-point field goals in the fourth quar- ter, along with four of four from the line. Young had 14 points on the night, including nine in the fourth quarter. Shelby Meadows had nine points and Delaney Welch had five. "We got some good min- utes from Shelby, Kenna and Delaney," said McCutchan. Pike Central was able to fight their way back to a one point lead, but a turnover gave the ball and lead back to White River. "Playing with- out two starters, we just kind of ran out of gas and couldn't get over the hump," said Mc- Cutchan. Monday night, the Lady Chargers faced one of the top teams in southern Indiana on a hot night. The Hatchets started with the game with Jesse Ledgerwood hitting three pointers on their first two possession to start off 6 - 0. Keena Young's three-point- er at the 4:48 mark of the first quarter, got the Chargers on the board making it 8 -3. Washington would continue the rout, as they pushed the score to 22-3 at the end of the quarter. Mallory Hunt, who led the Chargers with five points, scored early in the second quarter to make the score 22- 5. Shelby Meadows was fouled on a drive, with 6:21 left in the half. Meadows hit both free throws making it 26 -7. Washington then ballooned that to 32-7, before Anna Whitehead hit a three pointer with 4:30 left, making it 32-10. Hunt would add another bas- ket in the paint, with 1:02 in the half to make it 45 -12. The half ended with 47-12. Washington would eventually pull out to a 71-19 win. They were led by Alaina Thorne's, 22. Ledgerwood and Kencia Levasseur each had 14. Mallory Hunt with five points, was the Chargers lead- ing scorer.
