Poplar Street, Petersburg Hi readers, it is time to ramble and I will do my best to bring a few things to you which might make you think and maybe see things a little bit differently. Most time I have tact enough to say something without making you angry. I have been told by some of my preacher friends that if you make someone angry they will not take the time to hear what you are say- ing. Sounds like our representatives in office could use this advice because they seem to an- ger each other often. The decoration crew has worked on Christ- mas in the park project and has many displays ready to power up. Each year we learn a little more about how to do things safer and easier. It will always take effort and manpower so al- ways keep it mind we could use more help be- cause there is plenty to do. Many of the dis- plays could use a few burned out bulbs re- placed. We have been starting around noon and working about three hours each day we work. One day last week our son had to use some chemicals to get rid of some pests who did their best to make themselves a new home. The pest control technician who does our ser- vice said it is the time of year where you could see many different pests trying to get in for the winter. We have had a few wolf spiders in our garage and they sure do have an attitude problem and are extremely quick on the move. They raise their front two legs and act like box- ers in the ring. I was happy to have accomplished many chores which I had been putting off. If you have things you need to do it helps to make a list and work it as you can. My list had about Nearly 2,000 years ago, the Apostle Paul gave a young minister named Titus some ad- vice that is good for any Christians who long to minister sound Bible doctrine to others: "In all things shewing thyself a pattern of good works: in doctrine shewing… sincerity" (Titus 2:7). The dictionary says the word sincere means pure and unmixed. That's why Paul wrote, "Let us keep the feast, not with… the leaven of malice and wickedness; but with the unleav- ened bread of sincerity…" (1 Cor. 5:8). God told the Jews under the law to keep the "feast" of unleavened bread right after they kept the passover by not mixing leaven in their bread (Lev. 23:4-8), and Paul says that the way to keep that feast today under grace is to keep the leaven of sin out of our lives to show God how thankful we are that "Christ our passover is sacrificed for us" (1 Cor. 5:7). Now you would think that every believer would know that our lives should be pure and unmixed with sins like "malice" and "wicked- ness" as we teach the doctrine of grace. But the carnal Corinthians were teaching grace but liv- The most wonderful experience on earth is a good marriage and a happy family. Marriage is God's divine idea and He choose to populate the earth from generation to generation by in- venting the family. When a man and woman become husband and wife, they are entering a vocation, a calling from God. Marriage is a lifetime commitment and is the basic building block of our society. There is no other union or contract that offers the joy, happiness, and contentment that one finds in a good marriage. Many people enter marriage with poor preparation and little understanding of God's plan for the future. Marriage is a union of love, tenderness, and constant affection. The more two people have in common the more likely they will have a good marriage. Opposites may attract but similari- ties can be like glue that holds it together. These similarities include fam- ily backgrounds, reli- gion, age, education, and personality traits. It is very important that one marries a person of the same religious faith. Your faith will be your anchor when ad- versity comes. It is so important when a cou- ple prays together, reads the Bible together and worships together. It is true families that pray together stay together. Watch out for your great enemy, the devil. He prowls around like a roar- ing lion, looking for someone to devour. Stand firm against him, and be strong in your faith" (I Peter 5:8, 9, NLT). The Bible describes our en- emy, Satan, as a roaring lion, prowling around looking for someone to devour. A lion's roar is not to be feared be- cause he has given his pres- ence away, allowing his prey time to escape. When we are in tune with God, we don't need to fear Satan's tactics. Satan's roar is not to be feared because compared to God he is all bluff. Let's pay him no mind. We have many in our ar- ea who are in desperate need of prayer. Some are bat- tling cancer, some have oth- er problems. God knows, understands and hears our prayers. May he heal, com- fort and save. We invite you to worship with us. "Don't sin by letting anger gain control over you" (Psalm 4:4). What you do with anger, whether you manage it or whether you give into it, deter- mines how effective you can be in finding your life's pur- pose. Becoming angry when life is not fair or when people hurt you is natural, but you need to handle it properly. Acknowledge your anger without letting it control you. In that manner, anger can be- come an agent for change. The key is to confront your anger and move on. Direct your an- ger at the injustice and make a positive difference. The key is to confront your anger and move on. You will gain insight into your purpose as you con- trol your impulses, learn the lessons that God intends, and practice God's grace. If at any time you have no church to attend, feel free to join us for services. Your pres- ence will be appreciated and I'm sure you will feel the bless- ing of God. May God bless each and everyone.
