Fall installment of Gibson County property tax due Nov. 10 Mary Ann O'Neal, Gibson County Treasurer, would like to remind property owners that the fall installment of Gib- son County property tax will be due on Wednesday, Nov. 10. The Treasurer's Office is open daily from 8 a.m. until 4 p.m. and property owners may pay ahead of the deadline. Prop- erty owners have four options for payment. The Courthouse is open for payment in person. With the new security procedures in place for the Courthouse, pa- trons must enter the building through the South basement entrance. Mailed payments must have a Postal Service postmark on or before the due date of Nov. 10, 2021. To ensure proper posting of their tax payment, please detach and return the payment coupon with the property owner's check. Spring and Fall Tax coupons were mailed in late April and no new coupon will be mailed for the fall installment. There is also a property tax payment drop box available on the northeast side of the courthouse for patron's con- venience. This box is checked daily and payment should include checks only, tax payment coupons, and a stamped self-addressed envelope if a receipt is needed. Property Tax Payment can also be made Online by Deb- it or Credit Card by phoning 844-882-3395, or www.gov- techtaxpro.com. Property owners must have their 18 -digit real property parcel number or their 12-digit personal prop- erty number in order to make online payment. A 2.5 percent service fee plus a $1.50 handling fee will apply and will be paid to the Debit/Credit Card vendor. Thanksgiving tractor pull planned The USAP Thanksgiving Weekend Antique Tractor Pull is planned for Nov. 26 at the Gibson County Fairgrounds. DECEMBER EVENTS Parade planned Princeton's Snowflake Christmas Parade is set for 5 p.m. Dec. 4 with a theme of "Have an Essential Christmas," and the goal of honoring essential workers. Haubstadt Holiday Expo slated for Dec. 4 Shop local at the Haubstadt Holiday Expo on Dec 4 at the Old Gym in Haubstadt 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Lots of local crafters and vendors are ready to help. Students will submit their entries to the local VFW Post in Fort Branch by the noted deadline. She was born Jan. 22, 1947 in Lawrence, Ill., to the late Paul and Retha Medlin. She attended and graduat- ed from Lawrenceville High School. She worked as an office manager for Nation- al Homecare, now known as American Communities. She married the love of her life, Ronald Barrett, July 18, 1996. She attended New Life Church in Princeton. She was very artsy and enjoyed sewing, painting, crafting and scrapbooking. She loved baking and cooking for her friends and family. She liked to spend time outside working in her garden. She and Ron- ald loved traveling, and visit- ing casinos and flea markets. She is survived by her chil- dren, Lori ( James) Frederick and Donnie (Trisha) Garrett; stepchildren, Tony (Dawna) Barrett and Randy (Michelle) Barrett; siblings, Keila (Mi- chael) Streck and Linda Ja- cobs; 12 grandchildren; and several great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Ron- ald Barrett; and brother, Lee Medlin. The funeral was at 11 a.m. on Thursday, Oct. 28, 2021, at Holder's Funeral Home. Buri- al followed at Antioch Ceme- tery. Visitation was from 9 a.m. until service time on Thurs- day at the funeral home. He was born in Pennington Gap, Va., on Sept. 3, 1943, to William and Cecelia (Powell) Howard. He served in the United States Navy and was a mem- ber of the VFW Post 25. He is survived by his son, Eric Howard; three grandchil- dren; and his daughter-in-law, Debra Howard. He was preceded in death by his wife, Arnetta Howard; and his son, Michael Howard. HIRSCH Kathryn Elizabeth Hirsch, 90, of Poseyville, passed away on Oct. 30, 2021 at West River Health Campus in Evansville. She was born to Frank and Verona (Lamey) Bayer on April 4, 1931, in Vanderburgh County, She graduated from Re- itz Memorial High School in 1949. Following graduation, she met Robert Hirsch, of Poseyville, and they married in 1953. They were longtime members of St. Francis Xavi- er Catholic Church. She was a charter member of the Tercera Club, a Girl Scout leader and a religious education teacher. She en- joyed helping with 4-H and was an active member of the North Posey Band Boosters. She enjoyed travel, cooking, reading, knitting, sewing and going to dances with Bob. She never met a stranger. She is survived by her daughters, Janet (Tom) Price, of Indianapolis, Susan Weatherholt of Poseyville, Julie (David) Hirsch, of Leb- anon, Sarah (Dave) Smith, of Lexington, Ky., and Amy ( John) Mueller, of Cincinna- ti, Ohio, 10 grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren; and sisters, Dolores Tucker, Dor- othy Marshall, Anna Ritzert and Rose Ann Barrow (Bill). She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband Bob; her grandson, Nick Bar- kley; her brothers, Edward, Raymond, Vincent and Rob- ert Bayer; and sisters, Mary Widick, Helen Schenk, Rita Like, Bernice Huff and Bet- ty Dossett. Owens sworn in as new Sheriff's Deputy By Janice Barniak SG Star-Times Editor editor@sgstartimes.com Judge Jeffrey Meade swore in Michael Owens, of Wades- ville, as a Gibson County Sheriff's Office Deputy Oct. 29 in the Gibson Circuit Court room. The officer began his duties Nov. 1. Owens, a 2004 Reitz grad- uate, has worked as a truck- er, mechanic and construc- tion worker. From April 2015 through December 2019, he served as a corrections offi- cer at the Gibson County Jail, where he was a member of the CERT team, worked as a transport officer, and then an office manager for communi- ty corrections. This October, he became a certified Tactical Medical Instructor. He lives with his wife, Erin, and son, Wade. He is attending Indiana Law Enforcement Academy in 2022.
