Poplar Street, Petersburg The Pauline revelation leads us into glorious truths respecting both our position and expe- rience as believers. Indeed, the new birth it- self, as it takes place in the believer today, is directly related to the divine baptism by which Christ and the believer are made one. How was Christ made one with mankind? He was baptized into the human race. He did not merely come to dwell with men. He be- came man. How? By being born into the race. Was this by natural birth? No, by supernatural birth. He was begotten of the Holy Spirit. But His baptism into the human race did not end with His birth and life on earth. So fully did He become one with man, that He even died Scandals in the church, government, board- rooms, research labs and publishing houses remind us that we need moral guidance in all areas of our lives. Ethics, or the lack of it, has dominated the news in the past few years. Recently, it was re- vealed that Bill Hybels, long-time mega church pastor in Chicago, had for years had several relationships with women in his church. The Catholic Church has spent millions to settle lawsuits where homosexual priests had mo- lested children. Another anonymous survey revealed that one in four pastors watch por- nography on the Internet and preach on Sun- day. These scandals remind us that we need moral ethics among both the so-called saints and sinners. Now the house of cards is falling in politics as both Republicans and Democrats run for cover. We have a generation that hears little Gos- pel even if they attend church. Our schools are afraid to talk about God and the Ten Command- ments. We fail to teach our children right from wrong and many grow up with divorced par- ents and a lack of time and love. Our new world is filled with single adults who have sex like they were married. These single adults have changed the rules of love and marriage and have polluted our moral environment and shamed our cul- ture. The Internet has made many homes a cesspool of filth and destroyed fidelity and true love. The end result of a culture without eth- ics will be shame, loneliness, heartbreak and even suicide. Stam Hey to all the people who read my Ram- blings and I hope everything is going well. The word of the day could easily be "busy" because our family has been involved in ma- ny things during the last couple of weeks. We have plans to take a trip soon to see some of our cousins in Tennessee, but we have a cou- ple of obligations to fulfill before we can go. It will fall in place so we can go because it al- most always does. I had blood drawn at the doctor's office so he would have my latest values to talk about during my regular appointment. One of the tests was to check my ferritin which was high enough to warrant ridding my body of at least a pint of blood. Getting shed of this blood usu- ally lowers my ferritin level by several points and it does make you feel better for awhile. The rest of my blood work was fairly nor- mal for abnormal person such as I. My exer- cises help but with my ankle hurting I can't walk on the treadmill which really did help my cholestorsal levels. I thought I was going to use my generator at the park whenever we would finish the free stage but thanks to some of the 4H board they had put the plywood down. All we had to do was put some more screws in to help finish up this project. I did get the generator started but not without changing the plug and giving it a little new gas to help with what gas was in it so it should start okay next time I need it. My wife takes a shot once every six months for her bones to be less brittle. She has to have a blood work test each time she gets this shot so she had to go to get her test one day and her shot the next. "Your word is a lamp to guide my feet and a light for my path" (Psalm 119:105, NLT). A verse most of us learned in Bible School as children. Little did we know we would have it to get us through un- certain times in our lives. Stepping into the unknown through an unforeseen cir- cumstance, maybe an unex- pected move or even a death in the family can be terrifying. Though at times we may feel lost, we have God's word to guide our paths and lead us in the right direction. You may not feel brave, but you can trust the God-given peace in your heart knowing He is al- ways there to guide us. We have several families in our area who have lost loved ones. We pray for their peace from our loving Father. We invite you to worship with us.
