Camp will be at the main soccer field behind Old Petersburg Gym. Cost for each camper will be $25. Checks may be made payable to PC Soccer Boosters. Kindergarten through fifth grades will be each day from 10 a.m. to 11 a.m. Sixth through eighth grades will be each day from noon to 1:30 p.m. Sign-ups the day of camp are accepted. High School boys' and girls' soccer players and coaches will run the camp. There will be age-specific drills and in- struction, games and competitions for all. Bring indoor or tennis shoes. Tern Bar Slough WDCA hosts in-person deer hunt draw, July 31 Tern Bar Slough Wildlife Diversity Conservation Area ( WDCA) will host an in-person reserved deer hunt draw at Sugar Ridge Fish & Wildlife Area (FWA) on Saturday, July 31. The draw will begin at 11 a.m. ET. Doors will open at 9 a.m. ET to allow participants to purchase licenses pri- or to draw registration. A valid deer hunting license is re- quired to register. Bonus antlerless permits may be used on the property. Draw-only hunting opportunities will be available for ar- chery and muzzleloader seasons. A total of 66 draw slots are available. Hunters can find a list of drawn hunt dates on Sugar Ridge FWA's website under the Activities tab at on.IN.gov/sugaridgefwa. If any draw spots remain, those opportunities will be available on a first-come, first-served basis at the prop- erty office. Hunter Education class set for August 2-6 The Indiana Department of Natural Resources, Law Enforcement Division, is sponsoring a Hunter Education Class beginning August 2, according to Keith Thomas. The class will be at the Sugar Ridge Fish and Wildlife Headquarters, 2310 E. SR 364, Winslow, from 6 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. on Monday, Tuesday, Thursday and Friday. At- tendance in each session is required. Anyone born after December 31, 1986, must successful- ly complete a DNR offered hunter education class to pur- chase a hunting license. Seating is limited, so go to http;// www.register-ed.com to register. Additional information regarding class requirements, content and location is al- so available on the registration page. Smokey Bear birthday party set for Aug. 7 Patoka Lake will celebrate Smokey Bear's birthday with a party on Saturday, August 7, from 10 a.m. to noon at the Patoka Lake Nature Center. The party will include a chance to get a picture with Smokey, fire safety games and a special craft to make and take home. The Orange County Southeast Township Volunteer Fire Department will give a special presentation on fire safety, including a jaws of life demonstration, at 11 a.m. The entrance fee of $7 per vehicle for Indiana residents and $ 9 for out-of-state vehicles is required for the New- ton-Stewart State Recreation Area at Patoka Lake, which is located north of Wickliffe Indiana on State Road 164. Bird Hunters' 15th Annual Free Youth Day is Oct. 9 All area youth are invited to participate in the Pike Coun- ty Bird Hunters' Club 15th Annual Brownwells NR A Youth Day on Saturday, October 9. Youth ages seven through 18 will find plenty of activities, beginning at 8 a.m. with a pro- vided breakfast. The no-charge day in the field includes darts, archery, BB gun, muzzle loader, .22 rifle, trap shoot- ing and Chukar hunting over dogs. Registered participants will be in a random drawing for more than a dozen rifles, shotguns and archery sets after a day of outdoor activities. The Pike County Bird Hunt- ers' Club is located five miles south of Petersburg on SR 57 and just two miles west on Division Road. Watch for signs. Do not bring any firearms to the event. All firearms and ammunition will be provided by the club. Adults are en- couraged to attend, and will have breakfast and lunch for a donation. A Hunter Education Card is required for Chu- kar Hunting. A Hunter Safety course for youth is being offered August 2-6 at the Sugar Ridge Fish and Wildlife Headquarters building, just off SR 61 on SR 364. Following a day of outdoor activities, there will be a search-and-rescue demonstration, followed by the random drawing for long guns and archery sets. Apply for Reserved Hunts online until August 9 Beginning July 6, hunters can apply for a variety of re- served hunts online by visit- ing on.IN.gov/reservedhunt. The online method is the only way to apply for the hunts listed below. No late entries will be accepted. Ap- plicants must possess a hunt- ing license that is valid for the hunt for which they are apply- ing. Hunters will be selected through a random computer- ized drawing. Applicants will be able to view draw results online within two weeks af- ter the application period has closed. An email will be sent to all applicants when draws have been completed. Applications for the follow- ing hunting opportunities open July 6. Applications must be submitted by 11:59 p.m. on Aug. 9: Dove Hunts: Applicants may select the desired date and property. Due to inclem- ent spring weather, other crops may have been planted in place of or along with sun- flowers. Participating proper- ties include Atterbury, Goose Pond, Jasper-Pulaski, Kanka- kee, Kingsbury, Pigeon Riv- er, Glendale, J.E. Roush Lake, Willow Slough, Blue Grass, and Winamac Fish & Wildlife areas (FWAs). FWA Waterfowl Hunts: Participating FWAs include Goose Pond, Hovey Lake, Kankakee, Kingsbury, LaSal- le, and Willow Slough. Prov- ince Pond Wetland Conser- vation Area, managed by J.E. Roush Lake FWA, will also participate. FWA Deer Hunts: Partic- ipating FWAs include Deer Creek and Fairbanks Landing. State Park Deer Hunts: State Parks participating in- clude Chain O'Lakes, Clifty Falls, Fort Harrison, Indiana Dunes, Lincoln, Ouabache, Pokagon, Potato Creek, Shakamak, Spring Mill, Sum- mit Lake, Tippecanoe River, Turkey Run, Versailles, and Whitewater Memorial. Trine State Recreation Area and Cave River Valley Natural Ar- ea will also participate. Military and Nation- al Wildlife Refuge (NWR) Deer Hunts: Properties par- ticipating include Camp Atter- bury Joint Maneuver Training Center, Big Oaks NWR, and Muscatatuck NWR. Mus- catatuck NWR will host one reserved firearms deer hunt for youth. Indiana Private Lands Access (IPLA) Hunts: IP- L A will offer deer, waterfowl, and game bird hunts. Appli- cations for the deer and wa- terfowl hunts will be accept- ed July 6 through Aug. 9. Ap- plications for the game bird hunts will be accepted Aug. 16 through Sept. 30. Applicants may select the date(s) and lo- cation when applying. Pheasant Hunts: The ap- plication period for pheasant hunts will open Aug. 16 and close Sept. 30. Additional in- formation about these hunts will become available at a lat- er date. Please note that only one ap- plication per hunt is allowed. No changes can be made once an application is submitted. The application process is now consolidated into the li- cense system website along with CheckIN Game and HIP registration. An online ac- count is not required to ap- ply, but a Customer ID num- ber is needed. In this system, hunts without a registration fee will follow the same pro- cess as those with a fee. To register for hunts with no fee required, applicants will be asked to "Add to Cart," "Pro- ceed to Checkout," and "Place Order." If the transaction to- tal is $ 0, the applicant will not be asked to enter credit card information. Applicants must "Place Order" to finish their application. To view draw results, ap- plicants can log in to their li- cense system account or click "View hunt draw results" at on.IN.gov/reservedhunt. From there, applicants should select "Click here" under Re- served Hunts to see the sta- tus of registered hunts. The link will show only upcoming hunts that an individual has registered for. Logging in- to their online account is re- quired to see the full histo- ry of past hunt registrations. More information is available at on.IN.gov/reservedhunt.
