C-4 Wednesday, July 28, 2021 The Press-Dispatch Pentecostal Nazarene Presbyterian Presbyterian Wesleyan MINUTES Continued from page 1 man's death on the accursed tree. He was baptized into death (Luke 12:50) and, as we now know, into our death. And it is there, at the Cross, that we become one with Him. The moment one looks in faith to Calvary, acknowledging: "He is no sinner; I am the sin- ner. Christ is dying my death"; that moment he becomes one with Christ; baptized into the crucified, risen Lord Himself (Rom. 6:3; Gal. 3:26,27) not only positionally, in the reck- onings of God, but exponen- tially, by the Spirit. And thus a new life is begotten. By natural birth? No, by su- pernatural birth. Some hold that the Epistles of Paul do not teach the new birth, but this is an error. His familiar word teknon, generally trans- lated simply "child" in our En- glish Bibles, means literally, "born one." And he uses this word with regard to our spiri- tual relationship to God. Furthermore, the Apostle teaches the very truth of the new birth in Tit. 3:5, where he says: "Not by works of righteous- ness which we have done, but according to His mercy He saved us, by the washing of regeneration, and the renew- ing of the Holy Ghost." support the doctors. It would be nice if we could get back some of the money we spend each year attempting to keep our health stable. We have an older gas grill which we have rebuilt a couple of times and we don't grill out enough to warrant buying a new grill. Our grill sits outside in the weather and we always take it apart enough to make sure our burners aren't rust- ed out which would be dan- gerous. Everything checked out and after it was given a bath we were ready to fire it up and use. Don't take things for granted because without checking your grill out for damage you don't know if it is ready or not. Another trip to another doc- tor appointment, this time to the infusion center to have that pint of blood removed. Hopefully our appointments will slow down now for anoth- er three months. A fter mowing and trim- ming the yard, I came in and helped my wife sweep and mop our floors. Our yard is all sand and no matter how much you wipe your feet it comes in with you. I don't expect her to do all the mopping and sweep- ing because I sure track in my fair share. We went to the open house for Wayne and Donna Russell to help them celebrate their 50th wedding anniversary. Lots of people were there to congratulate them on this event in their lives. My wife and I want to wish them ma- ny more happy years to come. Sunday school and church this past Sunday was good and was as always fun to be a part of. Our teacher expanded on being on your guard so oth- ers see the love of Christ in your lives. We should share the love of Jesus with all by preaching and teaching the word of God. Your witness may be the only one they will see so be ready. The message again re-em- phasized keeping our fruits pure. Our fruits are what peo- ple see in us and they are to be pure as possible. Well it is time for me to ask you to be blessing whenev- er you out and about. Open doors, share a smile and a hearty have a good day. You never know whenever some- one may just need a kind word. We will plan to do that as soon as possible. Normal weekly schedule is as follows: Sunday school starts at 9:30 a.m. with morn- ing worship starting at 10 :30 a.m. We are doing teen min- istry on Sunday nights at 5:30 p.m. during the summer. Our Wednesday program will start with an outdoor family night celebration September 15. We hope to have inflatables, but if not, we will have plenty of food and activities. We are still working out the details of the Wednesday night min- istry. With the loss of Shirley Graham, our preschool lead- er for the past 50 years, we have to adjust how we do min- istry. We plan to do ministry for children from preschool to high school. Time is still to be decided. The time will only be one hour this year, and we plan to start earlier if possible and we will provide transportation for those who need it. With school starting in Au- gust, that would be a good time for you to reconnect with us on Sunday morning. Most people have returned, but some are still being cau- tious. I can't overestimate the value of gathering together in person on Sunday morning, so we can take who we are in Christ, and apply it to every ar- ea of our lives. Peace and joy in the Lord. Gratitude A blind boy sat on the steps of a building with a hat by his feet. He held up a sign which read, "I am blind, please help." There were only a few coins in the hat—spare change from folks as they hurried past. A man was walking by. He took a few coins from his pocket and dropped them into the hat. He then took the sign, turned it around and wrote some words. Then he put the sign back in the boy's hand so that everyone who walked by would see the new words. Soon the hat began to fill up. A lot more people were giving money to the blind boy. That afternoon, the man who had changed the sign returned to see how things were. The boy recognized his footsteps and asked, "Were you the one who changed my sign this morning? What did you write? " The man said, "I only wrote the truth. I said what you said but in a different way." I wrote, "Today is a beautiful day, but I cannot see it." Both signs spoke the truth. But the first sign simply said the boy was blind, while the second sign conveyed to ev- eryone walking by how grate- ful they should be to see. Gratitude is a heart-cen- tered approach to being at peace with yourself and with all you have. When you prac- tice this feeling of gratitude, it attracts even MORE things into your life for which to be grateful. Roy Stilwell, Pastor Pam Lemond, Reporter Baptist MT. PISGAH G.B. CHURCH 6100 S.
