It's especially dangerous when there's not an adequate cooling system in the home. As in years past, the Council on Aging/Neal Center will again be giving away a limited number of electric box fans during the summer months. To qualify for a box fan: -Applicants must be a Cleveland County resident, age 60 and over, and/ or have a disability. -Have no air conditioning in their home -Have a home situation where a threat to health exists If you fit these qualifications, please call the Council on Aging/Neal Center at 704/482-3488. EMPLOYMENT OPPORTUNITY AT THE NEAL SENIOR CENTER Position: Volunteer Coordinator Hours per week: 28 (part-time, no benefi ts) Duties of the position: The approved applicant must be able to work part-time, Monday: 1PM-9PM, Tues- day-Thursday: 8AM-1PM. Hours may vary according to activities taking place at the center. Because all staff works as a team when needed, occasional night and weekend work is expected. This position reports to the Program Director. Applicant will direct all volunteers and the positions they serve; recruit and train new volunteers; maintain record keeping of all volunteer hours; locate replacement volunteers when there is an absence; plan and coordinate the annual Volunteer Appreciation Event with the Executive Director; work the Monday Night Bingo game weekly, including the training and scheduling of volunteers to assist; other duties as assigned. Educational & Experience Background: Preferably, a minimum of a two-year degree from an accredited col- lege or university is suggested, but not required. Previous experience as a volunteer coordinator is a benefi t, though not required. Applicant must be profi cient in Microsoft Offi ce.
