Born in Cleveland County on October 20, 1934, he was the son of the late Lennie H. Brittain and Sallie R. Brittain of Lawndale. Mr. Brittain served our country in the U.S. Army. In addition to his parents, he was pre- ceded in death by two sons- in-law, Gene Smith and Ed Hamrick, a step-son, Bobby Hunt, two sisters, Jackie Hamrick and Kay Lail, and a brother, Jimmy Brittain. He is survived by his wife, Faye Sain Brittain; daugh- ter, Cathy Smith of Shelby; daughter, Melanie Hamrick of Boiling Springs; step-daugh- ter, Sherry Hunt-Dedmon and husband, Shane of Chesnee, SC; three grandchildren; two step-grandsons; six great- granddaughters; and a broth- er, George Brittain (Mary Ruth) of Shelby. Born in Cleveland County, He was the son of the late J.D. Davis and Leitha Tessneer and was preceded in death by two sons David Lee Davis and Richard James Davis and one sister Jennifer Crotts. Mr. Davis is survived by his step-daughters: Michelle Davis (DK) of Shelby, NC, Billie Carringer (Rusty) of Kings Mountain, NC and Kathey Stewart of Boiling Springs, NC; step-sons: Billy Foster (Linda) of Blacksburg, SC and Kenny Stewart of Kings Mountain, NC; one brother, Tim Davis of Shelby NC; two sisters: Cathy Warren of Shelby, NC and Linda Bridges of Ellenboro, NC; nineteen grandchildren and fourteen great grandchildren; and for- mer wife, Cathy Davis of Kings Mountain, NC. Born in Gaffney, he was the widower of Lucille Allison Ramsey and the son of the late Crowder Ramsey and Nellie Humphries Ramsey. Mr. Ramsey served our country in the US Navy. He is survived by his daughter, Pam Spencer (JR); his son, Dylan Ramsey (Stephanie); four grandchildren, two great- grandchildren, and five great-great-grandchildren. In addition to his wife, he was preceded in death by his sons, Maurice and Marty Ramsey, and his brother, Gaithren "Red" Ramsey. Graveside services were held May 17, 2021 at Mountain View Cemetery, Blacksburg, SC, with Rev. Gregg Martin officiating. SANFORD A WARD Sanford A. Ward, 91, of Gaffney, passed away May 15, 2021. A life resident of Auburn, NY, he moved to Gaffney in 2009. Sandy (as many people knew him) was born on September 11, 1929 in the town of Throop, NY to the late Harry J. and Viola Hunt Ward. Mr. Ward served our country in the Navy during the Korean Conflict. In addition to his wife, he is survived by his daughters, Lynnette French (Charles), and Laura Clark (Patrick); his sons, Clair Ward and Craig Ward (Anita), all of Auburn, NY; a step- son, Douglas Radcliffe of Genoa, NY; a step-daugh- ter, Sandra McKeon (Jim), of Mooresville, NC; eleven grandchildren, four great- grandchildren, four step- grandchildren, one step- great-granddaughter; and five sisters, Helen Davis of Port Byron, NY, Lula May Forbes of Deland, FL, Thora Nash of Weedsport, NY, Avis Mason of The Villages, FL, and Kay Herrick of Apopka, FL. He was preceded in death by his parents; his first wife, Joyce C. Ward; a brother, H. Leslie Ward; and a daugh- ter-in-law, Donna Ward. JANICE "JANIE" REBECCA BOLINGER GREENE Janice "Janie" Rebecca Bollinger Greene, 72, of Cherryville, passed away on Saturday, May 15, 2021. Born in Catawba County, on February 7, 1949, she was a daughter of the late Alvin Claude Bollinger, Sr. and Carley Glenna Rabey Bollinger. In addition to her par- ents, she was preceded in death by one son, Joseph Lee Greene; five brothers, Bobby Joe Bollinger and wife Betty, Franklin Bollinger and wife Hazelene, Alvin "Ace" Bollinger, Jr., Benny "Bink" Ray Bollinger and Charles "Butch" Bollinger and three sisters, Glenna Duncan and husband Buck, Jean Bumgarner and Louise Bollinger Webb. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband Benjamin Lee Hawkins; her daughter, Wanda Lee Hawkins Huber; ten brothers and two sisters. Those left to cherish her memory include her daugh- ters, Sandra Curtis (Jim) of Millersville, Maryland and Linda Fortner (Henry) of Shelby, NC; a sister, Alice Matthews (Larry) of Acworth, Georgia; four grandchildren; and seven great-grandchil- dren.
