Stam St. Peter was not wrong when he declared at Pentecost that the last days had begun (Acts 2:16,17). They had indeed begun, but God had a secret plan to give the world a period of grace before putting down its rebellion and sending Christ to reign. This secret purpose concerning "the dispen- sation of the grace of God" is the subject of Paul's epistles. However, it is interesting to see how Peter's last message explains the reason for this interruption in God's prophesied pro- gram and the delay in Christ's return to reign. First, he says in II Peter 3:8: "But, beloved, be not ignorant of this one thing, that one day is with the Lord as a thou- We are living in a desperate hour in a dan- gerous world. In 2021 America stands at the crossroads of civilization. There are forces in our government that would turn America into Socialism and destroy our freedom of worship and liberties to control our destiny. In studying history we see countries like Russia, Germany and many in Europe walked right into the trap. Our media, corrupt politicians, deceived church leaders and Socialists in the classroom are slow- ly taking us away from our freedom to preach the Bible and uphold our American heritage. Most people, as in other countries, see nothing wrong until it is too late. One of the great problems in America today is the moral decline of our family values. Only a few years ago males married females. Men and women did not live together until they were mar- ried. Our children were taught about freedom, liberty, love of country and faith in God. Our churches often do not preach a clear salvation message. Many church goers do not understand the consequences of sin. Everything has to do with attendance, buildings and money. God's House is a House of Prayer and a place where people gath- er to understand forgive- ness and find hope. They need to know what the Bi- ble teaches about heaven and hell. When the church ful- fills its main mission our nation is not likely to promote a one world government or a one world church. Jesus Christ and the cross will always be the center of the true church. Our Bible re- minds us of a great falling away from the faith and lukewarmness among God's people. Our love for money, acceptance, and growth has robbed us of something precious; a personal relationship with Jesus Christ. The pandemic has made the situation worse. Ramblings of my mind by Lowell Thomas Hello, I hope everything is going great for you and if it isn't going great. I hope it begins to be great. This has been another easier week for the Thomas family so there may not be much to write about, but a rambling mind seems to always find something to say. This week started out with the weather peo- ple talking about March and how it is com- ing in like a lamb and we might see March go out like a lion. I hope just being a little cooler can be called a lion, because I don't want more snow this year or ice storms either. Whatever comes we will deal with it and look forward to the pretty weather ahead. I was watching a movie the other evening where several young people had a policeman held as a hostage. They ended up fighting amongst themselves as they were becoming deeper and deeper in trouble. I realize we are spoiled by our small town lifestyle and our eas- ier going lives but more than that I feel bless- ed to live where we don't have the violence some of the larger communities have. I realize things can happen, but so far we haven't had as much crime as some other places are hav- ing. I hope mentioning this doesn't bring it on. Covid vaccination is still going on and my wife and I have had both our shots now. My wife had effects from her second shot for a couple of days and was miserable. She is still having issues with being tired and worn out. "Devote yourselves to prayer, being watchful and thankful" (Colossians 4: 2). Prayer isn't just asking God for something we want. Prayer should include confession of sin and praise to God for who He is and what He has done for us. But prayer should have an additional element and that is Thanksgiving. Repeatedly the Bible commands us to give thanks. The Psalmist said, "Oh, give thanks to the Lord for He is good. For His mer- cy endures forever" (Psalms 107:1). Jesus only distributed the bread He had miraculously provided for the crowds after "He had given thanks" (Mat- thew 15:36). At the Last Sup- per with His disciples, before facing the horror of the Cross, Jesus "gave thanks" (Luke 22:17, 19). It's easy to be thankful when God blesses us with something good, swift recov- ery from an illness, for ex- ample, or an advancement at work. But the Bible says we should "give thanks in all cir- cumstances, for this is God's will for us in Christ Jesus" (I Thessalonians 5:18). Thank- fulness drives away a sour or prideful spirit. We should make it part of our prayers ev- ery day. If at any time you have no church to attend, feel free to join us for services. Your pres- ence will be deeply appreciat- WINSLOW G.B. CHURCH 600 E.
