St. Rd. 61 Winslow 812-582-0354 Sunday morning wor- ship at 10 :30 a.m.; business meeting, third Sunday of the month, following morning worship. He who sat on the throne said, "Behold I make all things new." And He said to me, "Write, for these words are true and faithful" (Reve- lation 21:5). The most beautiful thing about the God we've entrust- ed our lives with is that he makes all things new. That's a faithful statement. It has al- ways been true and always will be. As we begin a new year, empty and full of both bright promise and worrisome un- known, we can rest our souls in the truth that our God will make everything new. Our regrets, mistakes and fail- ures are nothing compared to his promise of redemption and newness. He will take our regrets and turn them into new beginnings. We have those in our church and community who are suffering from COVID-19 and other illnesses. We pray that the Lord will give his healing touch to those in need. AYRSHIRE VALLEY G.B. CHURCH 1947 E. Fr. Frank Renner, Pastor Rev. Mark Wade,Deacon FIRST CHRISTIAN CHURCH 1400 E. Main Street Petersburg 812-354-6775 The other night I was watch- ing a Christmas movie with my wife, and in the movie there was mom, separated from her child, and in a moment of sheer desperation, with gritted teeth told someone; this is Christ- mas. The Season of perpetual hope. Maybe, you're like that. You believe this is a season of perpetual joy and hope, it is Christmas after all, but you say it more in desperation, gritted teeth, barely holding on. You may even be saying it at this point, because you need to con- vince yourself more than any- one else. We have been talking about faith, hope, love, joy, peace, as Christians for al- most two centuries, and now, for most of us, we are being forced to answer the question, did we really believe it? This is the time where the rubber meets the road for the church, and we come to find that we really believe in the hope, the hope of salvation, and the hope of true life of- fered through us in the per- son of Jesus. I believe that if we focus our eyes in this sea- son, on the greatest joy, found in the birth of Jesus, we will learn to tether our hearts to the great hope we have in his life, death, and resurrection. Hope does not put us to shame. DJ Bryant, Pastor VINCENT CHRISTIAN CHURCH 8264 E. State Rd. 56 Sunday morning worship and the Lord's supper at 9:30 a.m.; Sunday school at 10 :30 a.m.; evening worship at 6:30 p.m. Topic of study: Practical Christianity. The New Year Be sure to seek God's will in the coming year. Paul left these words, "And do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renew- ing of your mind, that you may prove what is that good and acceptable and perfect will of God" (Romans 12:2). Because He lives. "Having wiped out the hand- writing of requirements that was against us, which was con- trary to us. And He [Jesus] has taken it out of the way, hav- ing nailed it to the cross" (Co- lossians 2:14). Man can be overpowering in his success in the world; by all his man-made regulations in the flesh. Jesus died to free us from such laws and regula- tions, well knowing they were impossible for man to keep them; being in his sinful na- ture. So now we don't live un- der the law, but under grace which was given to us by God sending his Son [Jesus] to shed His precious blood for all sin, past, present, future on the cross. That we may seek Him through prayer and the Holy Spirit, not in the flesh. "But the God of all grace, who hath called us unto his eternal glory by Christ Jesus, after that ye have suffered awhile, make you perfect, establish, strengthen, settle you" (I Peter 5:10). The Bible has much to say about suffering and most of it encouraging. In the above pas- sage, Peter wrote that through suffering (for Christ) you will be perfected, established, strengthened and settled. Paul said, "I count all things but loss, for the excellency of the knowledge of Christ Jesus my Lord...That I may know Him, and the power of His resurrec- tion, and the fellowship of His sufferings...I press toward the mark for the prize of the high calling of God in Christ Jesus" (Philippians 3:8 -14). There are many spiritu- al gains that will be achieved through suffering. There is a place of communion that can only be found in the midst of suffering. Do you want to know Him in the power of His resurrection? Be willing to know Him in the fellowship of His suffering. Chad Searls, Pastor Allen Parks, Reporter UNION COMMUNITY CHURCH 3082 N.
