Born in Iredell County on January 10, 1933 she was the daughter of the late R.C. and Ruthie Hager. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband Yates G. Hawkins; five sisters: Mabel, Dot, Nancy, Thelma and Connie and four brothers; Bill, Lonnie, Dean, and Sid. Peggie is survived by her son and two daughters; Douglas Hawkins Sr., Sheila and husband, Stephen Ciliberti of Shelby and Janet Bradley; one sister, Polly Strickland of Mooresville; five grandchildren: Doug Hawkins Jr. (Jada), Todd Bradley (Haley), Ashley Bellinger (Trevor), Robert Hawkins (Bobbi) and John Ciliberti and three great- grandchildren: Yates, Emmett, and Amelia Joyce Hawkins. Funeral service was held 3:00 pm Monday, October 12, 2020 at Poplar Springs Baptist Church with Rev. Andy Oliver officiating. Burial followed in Cleveland Memorial Park. GERALDINE LOCKHART YOUNG Mrs. Geraldine Lockhart Young, 90, of Shelby, NC passed away on Friday, October 9, 2020 at her residence. She was born on December 16, 1929 in Cherokee County, SC to the late Will Lockhart and the late Lillian Woods Lockhart. Joel Scott Mode; grandson, Joshua Pruett and two broth- ers, Boyce and Jack Mode. Those left to cherish his memory include two daugh- ters, Kelly Pruett of Bostic and Sonya Mode of Forest City; sisters, Hazel Ayers (Bobby) of Caroleen and Donnis White of Shelby. The funeral service was conducted at 3:00 pm on Monday, October 12, 2020 at the Harrelson Funeral Chapel with Reverend Gail Mason officiating. Lala was born October 14, 1937 in Rutherford County and was the youngest of twelve children born to the late John Lane and Alma Frazier Lane. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her daughter, Deborah Lane Ervin; granddaughter, Morgen Ervin; eleven broth- ers and sisters. Those left to cherish her memory include her grand- daughter, Michelle Whiteside Meyer (Wayne) of Tega Cay, SC and grandson, Tim Whiteside of Caroleen; her two great-grandchildren, Lauren and Christian Meyer; and a son-in-law, James Whiteside of Caroleen. A graveside service was conducted at 2:00 pm on Tuesday, October 13, 2020 at the Avondale-Caroleen- Henrietta Cemetery with Reverend Ernie Cole offici- ating. Young; her son, James Theodore Young; her broth- ers, Rufus Lockhart, Johnnie Lockhart, James Lockhart and Wilson Lockhart and a sister, Vanagline L. Harris. She leaves to cher- ish fond memories to her three daughters, Lillian Anne Young Moore (Paul), Barbara Young Moore (Robert) and Angeline Young Duncan (Darrell); two brothers, Walter Lockhart (Mae) and Charlie Lockhart (Eleanor); a host of spe- cial grandchildren, Lakecha Moore of the home, William M. Logan, Willie Haynes, Nakacha Logan, Robert T. Moore, Kimberly Moore, Sidney Young, Antonio Washington; and eleven great-grandchildren. The funeral service for Mrs. Young was private. The service was livestreamed on Facebook. Burial took place at Sunset Cemetery. JOHN FRANKLIN LAIL John Franklin Lail, 74, Lawndale, passed away on Thursday, October 8, 2020 at Atrium - Cleveland. Born in Cleveland County, on May 7, 1946, he was a son of the late Forest and Catherine Lail. Mr. Lail served our country in the US Navy. In addition to his parents he is pre- ceded in death by a son, Jeffery Lail; two broth- ers, Steve Lail and Charles Lail; and a sister, Evelyn Goble. He is survived by his wife of thirty years, Frances Marlene Hoyle Lail; two sons Scott Lail of Hickory and Travis Van Dyke of Casar; two daughters, Lori Lail of Hickory and Hidi Ledford and husband, Michael of Polkville; brother, Tom Lail; three sisters, Ann Hubbard, Doris Dayberry, and Nancy Dalton all of Casar; and five grandchildren, Allison, Lilly, Hannah, Carson, and Charlie. She is preceded in death by her first husband James Henry Ramsey; second hus- band Richard Melton Cook; a daughter, Gail Ramsey; three brothers, John Howard Self, Daune Self, and Harlan Self and a sister, Bernice Leigh. She is survived by a daugh- ter, Linda Ramsey Howard & husband Stanley of Fallston; daughter, Janice Ramsey Lancaster of Lawndale; daughter, Christine Ramsey Blanton & husband David of Mooresboro; daughter, Phyllis Cook Yelton of Forest City; daughter, Myra Cook Eaves of Shelby; sister, Faye Pruett of Belwood; 17 grandchildren; and numer- ous great grandchildren and great great grandchildren. She was born July 4, 1925 to Andrew Jackson and Minnie Mae Jordan Vinson in Wilson Mills, North Carolina. Mabel was preceded in death by her husband, John Edward Lee; and three brothers and one sister, Bill, Joe, Junior and Jackie. She is survived by three sons, John and wife Pat, Robert and wife Kim, and James, 11 grandchildren, Michelle Lee, John Lee (Sara), Kelli Lee (Jody), Sheree Lee-Collier (Kevin), Jamie Lee (Ashley), David Lee (Jenny), Hunter Mills (Dustin), Shellby Guffey (Joey), Darin Lee (Talitha), Shawn Lee (Becky), Bryson Lee, 15 great-grandchildren, 3 great-great-grandchildren, three sisters, Joyce Sneed, Helen Smith and Peggy Harvell.
