(Dyer) Townley, 76, of Greenwood, formerly of Petersburg, passed away on Friday, Aug. 21, 2020, at Fran- ciscan Health in Indianapolis. She was born on Nov. 9, 1943, in Vincennes to William and Faye Dyer. She enjoyed music and spending time with her family. She is survived by her hus- band, Robert Townley; her children, Cheryl (Gerald) Rus- sell, Michael (Georgett)and Brandon (Marcia) Gladish, all of Petersburg; two grandsons, Joshua (Amber) Jobe and Dal- ton Gladish; two granddaugh- ters, Halie and Kayla Glad- ish; and three great-grandchil- dren, Kiarra, Addison and Na- than Jobe. Robinson, 84, of Petersburg, passed away Thursday, August 20, 2020, at Memorial Hospital in Jasper. She was born in Peters- burg on November 29, 1935, and had lived there most of her life. She had worked in facto- ries and restaurants, but was a homemaker most of her life. She loved sewing and her ca- nine companion, Taz. She is survived by her chil- dren, Sabrina (Dan) Mill- er, Tim Robinson, Kim Rob- inson and Fred Robinson, all of Petersburg, and Pamela House, of Terre Haute; broth- er, Darvin Stroud, of Peters- burg; five grandchildren, Al- exa Miller, Kassie Miller, Ja- cob Miller, Jimmy Hegedus and Josh Miller; and two great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her father; her mother, Merle Stroud; and other sib- lings. Graveside services were at 11:30 a.m. CDT on Monday, August 24, 2020, at the Walnut Grove Cemetery, near Monroe City, with Pastor Gene Bur- khart officiating. There was no public visi- tation. He was born on Dec. 5, 1951, in Jasper, to Herschel and Virginia ( Jones) Hayes. He retired from Swifty Gas Company after several years of driving a truck for the com- pany. He is survived by his wife, Brenda (May) Hayes; his children, Tiffany (Roger) McCandless and Shelly (Bri- an) Norrington, both of Oak- land City, and Billy (Saman- tha) Robinson, of Washing- ton; 16 grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; sever- al nieces and a nephew; and sister in-law Sharlet (Ronnie) Sills, of Oakland City. He was preceded in death by his parents; a brother, Les- ter Karns; and sister, Connie Davis. Funeral services will be at noon on Wednesday, August 26, 2020, at Lamb-Basham Memorial Chapel, with Rev. Face masks are re- quired by state mandate upon entering the chapel. JOHN WILLIAM NORRINGTON John William Norrington, 72, of Winslow, passed away August 20, 2020, at his resi- dence. He was born November 24, 1947, in Pike County to Arvel and Doris Norrington. He was an Army veteran and served from 1968 -1969. He retired from Caterpillar Tractor Company and was a lifetime member of Masonic Lodge # 826. He is survived by his sons, Scott (Cari) Norrington and Ed Norrington; grandchil- dren, Emma and Jack Nor- rington; brother, Don (Laqui- ta) Norrington; and sister, Betty (Rick) Fears. He is preceded in death by his wife, Clotean "Tina" Nor- rington; and his parents, Arvel and Doris Norrington. Private services will take place at a later date. Charles James Staats, Jr., 68, of Petersburg and Hunt- ingburg, formerly of Tell City, passed away at 10 :02 a.m. on Friday, August 21, 2020, at Me- morial Hospital and Health Care Center in Jasper. He was born July 13, 1952, in Huntingburg, to Charles James Staats, Sr. and Irene (Ermert) Staats. He was a truck driver, a vet- eran of the United States Ar- my, and a lifetime member of V.F.W. Post #2939 Winchell-Vo- gel Post in Tell City. He is survived by two daughters, Ellen (Matthew) Corn, of Petersburg, and The- odore Guerin Queen "Amy" Brooks, of Jasper; one son, James Edward (Tammy) Sta- ats, of Evansville; four sis- ters, Doris (Charlie) Brown, of Dale, Edna (Charlie) Hu- bert, of Tell City, Sharon Sta- ats, of Tell City, and Brenda Meserve, of Tell City; sister-in- law, Geraldine Staats, of Jas- per; stepmother, Clara Staats, of Tell City; and eleven grand- children. He was preceded in death by his parents; and one broth- er, Bill Staats. Funeral services were at noon EDT on Tuesday, August 25, 2020, at the Nass & Son Fu- neral Home in Huntingburg. JEROLD GRIFFITH Jerold Griffith, 76, of Par- is, Ill., formerly of Deep Run, N.C., and Winslow, passed away at 5:05 a.m. Friday, Au- gust 21, 2020, at his residence. He was born January 11, 1944, in Flat Rock, Ill., the son of the late Orla and Eula (Stan- ley) Griffith. He married Jerline Howard on February 4, 1991, in Dillon, S.C., and she survives. He was retired after many years as a meat cutter and was an avid fisherman. Other survivors include two children, Tim Griffith, of Winslow, and Carla Griffith, of Chicago, Ill.; a brother, An- dy D. Griffith, of St. Francis- ville, Ill.; five sisters, Judy Millspaugh, of Snead's Ferry, N.C., Nancy Travillian, of Hen- derson, Ky., Orlene Reese, of Lawrenceville, Ill., and Jayne and Machelle Peters, both of Paris, Ill.; a grandson; two great-granddaughters; and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by a brother, Jerry Griffith. Graveside services will be at 2:30 p.m. on Monday, August 31, 2020, at Vermilion Ceme- tery in Vermilion, Ill. Meece, 71, of Oak- land City, entered rest on Sun- day, Aug. 16, 2020, at St. Vin- cent Hospital in Evansville. He was born on Sept. 26, 1948, in Chrisney, Ind., to William and Golda (Black- well) Meece. He was retired from Snap- on Tool in Mt. Carmel, Ill. He is survived by his chil- dren, Lisa Tretter and Ter- ry Meece, of Oakland City, and Eric Meece, of Evans- ville; his brothers, Kenny Meece, of Petersburg, Bil- ly Meece, of Winslow, Gary Meece, of Evansville, Earl Meece, of Odon, Frankie Meece, of Spurgeon, and Don Meece, of Arizona; sisters, Faye Richardson, of Winslow, and Pearl Heacock, of Jasper; seven grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren. Bishop, 84, of Pe- tersburg, passed from this life Saturday, August 22, 2020, in Columbus, Ind., surrounded by her family. She was born August 14, 1936, in North Hampton, Ohio, the daughter of Robert F. and Lillian Hart Bishop. A 1954 graduate of Chris- tiansburg-Jackson High School in Saint Paris, Ohio, she had been a secretary for the U.S. Department of Agri- culture and later was a nurs- ing home administrator in Pe- tersburg. She was dedicated to her faith and cared for her mother, and continued to care for oth- ers. She enjoyed volunteering for the Salvation Army in Pe- tersburg and was universally loved by her extended family. "And now abideth faith, hope, charity, these three; but the greatest of these is chari- ty" (I Corinthians 13:13). Surviving to cherish her memory is a niece, Kathryn (Michael) McCann, of King, N.C.; nephew, Howard (Su- san) Bishop, of Columbus, Ind.; sister-in-law, Betsy Bish- op, of Columbus, Ind.; four great-nieces and nephews; and several cousins. She was preceded in death by her parents; and her broth- er, Robert C. Bishop. In keeping with the family's wishes, cremation took place. A private family graveside ser- vice and inurnment will be at the Terre Haute Mad River Township Cemetery in Terre Haute, Ohio. AMOS EDWARD MCMULLIN Amos Edward McMullin, 76, of Monroe City, passed away at 7:30 a.m. Saturday, Au- gust 22, 2020, at his residence. He was born October 24, 1943, in Vincennes, to Amos C. and Mildred (Killion) Mc- Mullin. He was a mechanic for most of his life, operating his own business. A 1961 graduate of Decker High School, he served his country in the Ar- my from 1962-1965, stationed in Germany. His member- ships included the American Legion and V.F.W. He enjoyed watching NASCAR, collecting model cars, hunting for mush- rooms, fishing and camping. Surviving are his wife, Kar- la (Shaner) McMullin, who he married on April 9, 1966; his son, Charles "Eddie" ( Jenna) McMullin, of Monroe City; a daughter, Melanie Ann Mc- Mullin, of Monroe City; a sis- ter, Lou Ann (Tony) Cardinal, of Lake Placid, Fla.; and his grandchildren, Karly Neigh- bors, Amelia Arthur, Bain Mc- Mullin and Katelyn Grubb. Stuckey, 75, of Loogootee, passed away on Monday, August 17, 2020, at 4:40 p.m. at his residence, sur- rounded by his family. He was born on August 24, 1944, in Martin County to John and Rosie (Fields) Stuckey. He graduated from St. John High School. He married Ju- dith (Buck) Stuckey on June 5, 1965. He managed Buehler's IGA in Loogootee for over 20 years. He also worked at Kim- ball International Factory in Jasper, Jofco Furniture Com- pany in Jasper and Eugene's Food Liner/Grocery Store in Loogootee. He was a hard worker and loved to played music; he toured with differ- ent bands. He is survived his wife, Ju- dith Stuckey; his children, Kathy (Randy) Gibson, of Loogootee, and Denise ( Jeff ) Padgett, of Otwell; seven grandchildren; five great- grandchildren; and several nieces, nephews and cousins. He is preceded in death by his parents, John and Rosie Stuckey; his son, John Stuck- ey; and his siblings; Donald Stuckey, David Stuckey and Mary Bridgewater.
