Jasper won both the girls' and boys' team race and had the top girl in An- di VanMeter (19:51.10). The Charger girls placed all five of their scorers inside the top 21 spots, while Jasper had three of the top four fin- ishes. For- est Park Ranger Spenser Wolf won in 16:11 and the team was third overall. Coach Cain Parker said, "We were missing two of our top seven guys in this sev- en-team race. The girls did really well taking second and every girl ran well." Lady Charger netters fall to Lincoln By James Capozella The Lincoln Lady Alices traveled to Pike Central on Tuesday and came away with a three set victory over the Pike Central Lady Charger volley- ball team. Lincoln claimed wins of 25 -14, 25 -13 and 25 -6 on the Lady Chargers' open- ing night. Coach Stephanie Shedd said, "We had some first game jitters. Lexie On- yett played back row well with 11 digs. Kenzie Powell had 11 assists. She also had some sneaky dumps that took Lin- coln off guard. "Ericka Vinnedge had six kills and some great block at- tempts that were scooped up by Lincoln. This year will be a building year. We are building our skills each match. We are learning to move and work to- gether on the floor. Once the ladies can accomplish that, things will start flowing bet- ter." The junior varsity fell to the Alices 15 -25, 18 -25, but had some highlights with Del- aney Welch setting and Mad- die Lamey with three blocks. Macey Stilwell and Amil- ia Ahner both had five digs in the back row. Ahner had three aces, and Welch and Tessa Vinnedge one each. Welch made nine assists and had four digs. Coach said the team is still working on com- munication and playing with confidence. Pike Central netters fall to Lady Hatchets By James Capozella A Wednesday night road trip to Washington turned in- to a three-set loss for the Lady Charger volleyball team. The girls fell by scores of 25 -11, 25 - 10 and 25 -13, but coach Steph- anie Shedd said, "Washington has a solid team. I am proud of my girls for not giving up. They fought for every point. It's tough when you have two block attempts in one volley and can't pull out the point. The ladies didn't just let them have the points. They stuck with the volley, but just had some tough breaks. "Washington placed their hits well and found our defen- sive holes. Our serve percent- age was lower than expected along with too many hitting errors. Ashlyn Shoultz had six digs and Lexie Onyett had sev- en. Erika Vinnedge had three blocks and Haylie Fulcher one. The ladies played much better. We will continue to work hard and make progress as a team." Kenzie Powell had five as- sists and two digs, Lily Wil- lis and Riley Morgan had four digs each, and Karley Kavana- ugh three. Onyett had the only ace, while Vinnedge had two kills, and Haylie Fulcher, Mad- die Williams and Neeley Cor- rell one kill each.
