Bernice was born January 24, 1941 in Knoxville, Tennessee to the late James Harrison Jenkins and Helen Mae Smith Jenkins. In addition to her par- ents, she was preceded in death by her step-mother, Eva Gardner Jenkins; an infant son, Raymond Edward Mears; four sisters, Nina Mae Morrow, Lou Ella Dobbins, Doris Kent, Ann Hunt and two brothers, Bill and Herman Jenkins. Those left to cherish her memory include her chil- dren, Sheri Vassey (Bobby) and Dale Brown (Cecelia) both of Spindale; five grand- children, Robert Cramer (Kayla) of Mooresboro, Jessica Cramer Faulkner of Spindale, Cheyenna Vassey of Spindale, Nicholas Brown (Keirstan) of Forest City and Jacob Brown (Bethany) of Spindale; nine great-grand- children, Emmitt Cramer, Mikeal Faulkner, Mikolai Faulkner, Jakob Faulkner, Kira Baldwin, Jameson Frisbee, Josiah Tallmadge Lee Couch, Maleighna Grace Brown and Madilyn Faith Brown. A Celebration of Life, to honor Bonnie's life, will be held at 4:00 p.m. on Saturday, August 15, 2020 at the family residence (852 Spindale Street, Spindale). JOE SAMUEL WESTMORELAND Joe Samuel Westmoreland, 57, of Gaffney, SC passed away Saturday, July 25th, at his residence. Born July 15, 1963, to the late Hazel (Huskins) and Joe Hampton Westmoreland. JAMES ROBERT "BOB" HORN James Robert "Bob" Horn, age 87, passed away at his home on Sunday, July 26, 2020. Born in Cleveland County on November 19, 1932, he was the son of the late Daniel Thurman and Martha Madeline Simmons Horn. Bob is survived by his wife of 70 years, Carolyn Cline Horn; three sons, Mark Horn and wife Cindy, Harvey Horn and wife Anzie and Frank Horn and wife Anita all of Lawndale; a brother, Bill Horn of Shelby; Luke Horn and wife Deanne, Daniel Horn, Emerald Rabb and husband CJ, Ashley Curry and hus- band Nate, Heather Watts, Brittney Gaines and husband Robbie, Tori Seagle and hus- band Jay; 11 great grandchil- dren; special friends, Leonard Fletcher and wife Kathi of Shelby and Jim Lattimore and wife Cherie of Lawndale; also special caregivers, Kia Laney and Laura Walker. Born in Cleveland County on December 9, 1942 he was the son of the late Edwin Jackson McKee and Beatrice Scruggs McKee. Harry is survived by his wife of 58 years, Margretta "Greta" Brooks McKee of Boiling Springs, his two chil- dren; a son, Mike McKee (Kim) of Mooresboro and a daughter, Beth Canipe (Michael) of Boiling Springs, grandchildren; Kacie Martin (Jim), Ben Canipe, Patrick Canipe, Tosha Morrison (Landon), Tammy Whitaker, great grandchildren; Wyatt Martin, Waylon Martin, Logan Morrison and Tucker Morrison and one sister Jackie Phillips (Mike). ED SUTTLES Ed Suttles, age 78, of Forest City, passed away Monday, July 27, 2020. Ed was born August 31, 1941 in Matthews, NC to the late Walter M. Suttles and Clara Belle Smith Suttles. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife of thirty-eight years, Elsie Suttles; broth- ers, Grover, Fred, Floyd, Lawrence and Walt Suttles; three sisters, Ruby Suttles, Stella Patrick and Betty Orr. Those left to cherish his memory include two daugh- ters, Sherry Barrier (Neil) of Forest City and Jennifer Bumgarner (Andy) of Golden Valley; son, William Gene Marcotti (Sheila O'Sullivan) of Greenville County, SC; brother, Loyd Suttles (Joyce) of Rock Hill, SC and grand- son, Christian Bumgarner. He is also survived by a host of nieces and nephews which includes a niece, Diane Wayne and nephew, Artie Orr both of Hendersonville. DEBORAH GIBSON DeVENNY Deborah Gibson DeVenny, age 68 of Pearl Dr. passed away Monday, July 27, 2020 Joe served our country in the US Army National Guard. In addition to his parents he is pre- ceded in death by a brother, Charles Petty. Left to cherish his memory are sisters; Teresa Wilson of Blacksburg, SC, Rosemary Moss (J.W.) of Smyrna, SC, Joann Lancaster of Kansas City, MO, and Lori Hall (Roger) of Sharon, SC. Also surviving are brothers James (Jimmy) Westmoreland of Blacksburg, SC and Kenneth Westmoreland of Kansas City, MO and special friend and soulmate of 23 years Janice Blanton. VIRGINIA ANN HEYWOOD Virginia Ann Heywood, age 79, of Ellenboro, passed away Sunday, July 26, 2020 at her residence. She was predeceased by her father, Tom O'Connor and mother, Doris O'Connor. LOLA MAE HASTINGS COOK Lola Mae Hastings Cook, 90, of Casar Road, Casar, passed away on Tuesday, July 28, 2020 at Carolinas Medical Center - Charlotte. Born in Cleveland County, NC on November 22, 1929, she was the daughter of the late Luther Richard Hastings and Delzie Green Hastings. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband, Lester Vester Cook; a brother, Roy Hastings and four sisters, Lucy Jolly, Goldie Jones, Elizabeth Melton and Mildred Ward. Survivors include three sons, Roger Cook and wife, Diane of Blacksburg, SC, James Cook and wife, Brenda of Casar and Arnold Cook and wife, Melissa of Vale; a sister, Blanche Poole of Valdese; eight grandchildren and twelve great-grandchildren.
