Poplar Street, Petersburg Deadline: 5 p.m. on Monday DAVID WILLIAM SOLLMAN David William Sollman, age 79, of Velpen, passed away on Tuesday, June 9, 2020, at Memorial Hospital and Health Care Center in Jasper. He was born June 14, 1940, in Holland, Ind., to Emil and Hilda (Nuhring) Sollman; and married Lo- retta Ann Jones on Febru- ary 16, 1963, in Holland. He worked as a carpenter and farmer. He was a mem- ber of the Moose Lodge in Jasper and the Carpenters Union Local # 90. He is survived by three children, Debbie (Michael) Lemond, of Otwell, Mark (Connie) Sollman, of Vel- pen, and Sherry Sollman, of Jasper; and four grand- children, Michael Scott Le- mond, Calub Lemond, Bry- an Lemond and Brett David Sollman. He was preceded in death by his wife, Loretta Ann Sollman, on October 8, 2010 ; his parents; and two siblings, Paul Sollman and Ruby Messmer. Graveside services were on Thursday, June 11, 2020, at Pleasant Grove/Sprag- gins Cemetery near Velpen, with Pastor Craig Line offi- ciating. Condolences may be shared online at www.nas- sandson.com. FORREST BOGER Forrest (Nub) Boger, 88, of Petersburg, passed away peacefully at Amber Manor on June 14, 2020. He was born January 31, 1932, to Paul and Mary Lois (Bassinger) Boger. He married Barbara L. Meadors on October 28, 1951. They were married 61 years. He was a member of the First Baptist Church in Pe- tersburg. He wore many hats, as a farmer, factory worker, coal miner and part owner of Main Street Mo- tors until retirement. He was an honorary mayor of Dutch- town. His hobbies included eating at restaurants, riding a lawnmower, watching the St. Louis Cardinals, chasing cattle and attending Johny Ray's Auction. He loved his big family. He is survived by three children, Arnold (Sarah) Boger, Donnie (Mary) Bo- ger and Sherry (Dennis) Bishop, all of Petersburg; seven grandchildren, Char- lotte (Dave) Beck, Dawn (Ryne) Biesterveld, Stacy ( Joe) DeRose, Robin (Eric) Smith, Stephanie (Ryan) Ruppel, Lindsey (Zack) Fair and Shawn Boger; a "herd" of great-grandchildren; one niece, Vickie (Boger) Rauch; one nephew, Brian Boger; and a special friend, Eleanor Gladish. He was preceded in death by his parents; his only brother, Ronnie Boger; and his wife, Barbara, who passed away May 28, 2012. Graveside services will be at 2 p.m. at Walnut Hills Cemetery, on Wednesday, June 17, 2020, with Bill Slaven officiating. Harris Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements. JACK BRENTON Jack ( Jackie Ray) Bren- ton, 76, of Petersburg, died Wednesday, June 10, 2020, at Deaconess Gateway Hos- pital in Evansville. He was born August 25, 1943, to Wilfred Jack and Louetta (Corten) Brenton. He married his classmate, Margarett Sue (Suzie) Da- vis, on December 20, 2014, celebrating five and a half years of marriage. He practiced law as an at- torney in Evansville, was a member of Sigma Phi Epsi- lon and active in Thunder Bolt Pass Men's Golf Club. He served in the U.S. Army during Vietnam. He was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Peters- burg, and loved golfing. He is survived by wife, Su- zie; son, Kyle (Amy) Bren- ton; stepchildren, J.D. (Li- sa) Burton, Chris (Terri) Burton and Gaynecia (Tim) Keusch; 16 grandchildren; brother, Gene (Bettie) Bren- ton; and a nephew that was like a brother, Jeff (Misty) Brenton. He was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Keith Brenton; and sister, Mary Teague. A Celebration of Life will be at 5 p.m. on Thursday, June 18, 2020, at First Unit- ed Methodist Church, 801 E. Walnut Street, Petersburg, with Rev. Michael Punke and Rev. Mel Camp officiat- ing, with soloists Piper and Gaynecia Keusch. A walk-through visitation will be from 4-4:30 p.m. on Thursday at the church. Due to COVID-19 restrictions, social distancing should be maintained at the church and mask-wearing is re- quested. She was the daughter of Virgil Otis Nelson and Lil- lian Grace (Russell) Nel- son/Hayes, born January 13, 1946, in Indianapolis. She graduated from Ot- well High School in 1964. She is survived by her best friends and caregiv- ers Phyllis Adams and In- ez Statterfield, of Winslow; a niece; nephews; stepsis- ter Faye Selby, of Winslow; stepchildren, Robert Na- pier, William Napier and Kimberly Parrish; 11 step-grandchildren; and 17 step-great-grandchildren. She is proceeded in death by her parents, Virgil Otis Nelson and Lillian Grace (Russell) Nelson/Hayes; stepfather, Arber Hayes; her first husband, Clarence "Butch" Broyles; her second husband, Felix "Bob" Napi- er; her sister, Sharon Hen- derson; brothers, Delman Nelson and Keith Nelson; her stepsisters, Joyce Whit- tington and Vonda Stultz; and her stepbrother, Timo- thy Hayes. The family would like to extend special appreciation to Phyllis Adams and Inez Satterfield for all of their love and dedication to Lin- da in her final days. In accordance to Linda's wishes, a private burial will take place at a later date, at which time she will be laid to rest next to her husband, Fe- lix" Bob" Napier. Arrange- ments handled by Harris Funeral Home. DENISE LYNN ANDERSON Denise Lynn Anderson 50, of Tacoma, Wash., for- merly of Petersburg, passed away Feb. 20, 2020. She was born June 12, 1969, to Kenneth and Mary (Blackburn) Boger. She was a 1987 graduate of Pike Central High School. She married Jerry Anderson Dec. 27, 2003, and he pre- ceded her in death in 2017. She is survived by one brother; several nieces and nephews; and cousins. She was preceded in death by her parents; one brother; and three sisters. Funeral arrangements and burial were completed by Mountain View Funer- al Home in Tacoma, Wash. There were no services. K AREN SUE SCHROEDER Karen Sue "Suzie" (Hilge- man) Schroeder, 68, of Huntingburg and Peters- burg, passed away Satur- day, June 13, 2020, in Lou- isville, Ky. She was born April 14, 1952, in Huntingburg, to Wilford and Doris LaVergie (Underhill) Hilgeman. She was a factory work- er, and enjoyed camping, fishing, watching movies and spending time with her family. She is survived by her daughters, Angel Wetzel (caregiver), of Petersburg, and Carrie Elizabeth Hunt, of Radcliff, Ky.; sister, Carol Diane Kraft Kerney, of Pe- tersburg; half-sister, Cindy Jones, of French Lick; two stepsisters, Teresa Harp and Sheryl Dant, both of Jeffer- sonville; six grandchildren; and seven great-grandchil- dren. She was preceded in death by her parents; two brothers, Michael John Hilgeman and Carl Craig Hilgeman; two grandchil- dren; and two great-grand- children. Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. on Wednesday, June 17, 2020, at the Nass & Son Funeral Home in Hunt- ingburg. Burial will follow at Mayo Cemetery near Duff. MICHAEL R AY DEPUTY Michael Ray Deputy, 63, of Fort Branch, passed away Saturday, June 13, 2020, at Deaconess Gateway Hospi- tal in Newburgh. He was born September 5, 1956 in Princeton. He had resided in Fort Branch for the past 10 years, having lived most of his lifetime in the Oakland City area and graduating from Wood Me- morial High School in 1974. He is survived by his par- ents, Harold and Jo Ann (Grant) Deputy, of Oakland City; four brothers, Mark Deputy, of Oakland City, Max (Sharon) Deputy, of Francisco, Mitchell Depu - ty, of Oakland City, and Mat- thew (Sarah) Deputy, of Fort Branch; also, several nieces and nephews. He was born in Evans- ville to Ronald W. and Lela (Sollman) Greubel on May 6, 1959. He married Lisa Shanks Greubel on Decem- ber 31, 2015. He graduated from Jasper High School in 1977, served in the U.S. Navy from 1977 to 1981, and had worked as a supervisor at Duke Energy. He was a member of the Pa- toka Masonic Lodge #450. He is survived by his wife, Lisa; children, Amanda, Mi- chael and Ronald J. Greubel, of Evansville; stepson, Bry- an Gayer, of Daytona Beach Shores, Fla.; father, Ron- ald W. Greubel, of Jasper; five grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; sister, Rhonda (Gene) Greubel- Nigg, of Jasper; brother, Gary (Cathy) Greubel, of Tell City; and nieces and nephews. Lemond, Jr., 29, of Velpen, passed away at 6:02 a.m. Tuesday, June 9, 2020, in the emergency room of Memorial Hospital and Health Care Center in Jasper. He was born March 28, 1991, to Robert Lee, Sr. and Shirley (Uppencamp) Le- mond. He was a loving father to his son, Austin. He is survived by his son, Austin Lee Lemond, of Oak- land City; his mother, Shir- ley Lemond, of Velpen; five brothers, Anthony Lemond, of Velpen, Adam Lemond, of Ft. Branch, Cory Lemond, of Winslow, John Lemond, of Birdseye, and Billy Lemond, of Jasper; one sister, Kathy (Kenny) Myers, of Otwell; one half-brother, Jeff (Car- rie) Lemond, of Velpen; his aunt and uncle, Martha and Paul Montgomery, of Hunt- ingburg; one niece; and four nephews. SANDR A K AY VAUGHN Sandra Kay (Gendren Er- dell) Vaughn, 73, formerly of Oakland City, passed away on Wednesday, June 10, 2020, at IU Health North Hospital in Carmel. She was born on April 21, 1947, in Vincennes, to Wil- liam and Betty ( Whitting- ton) Gendren. She graduated from Pe- tersburg High School in 1965 and later attended Oak- land City College, where she received an associate's de- gree. She had been a home- maker and floral design- er, and sold life insurance, Tupperware, Avon and Mary Kay over the years. She was a member of Oak Grove Gen- eral Baptist Church in Oak- land City. She was a member of Phi Beta Psi and the Na- tional Hot Rod Association. She is survived by her daughter, Belinda (Tom) Wallbank, of Zionsville; son, Jeffrey (Tela) Erdell, of Newburgh; grandchildren; sister, Pamela Baldwin, of Grayville, Ill.; brother, William "Bill" Gendren, of Princeton; and stepsons Ted Vaughn and Tim Vaughn. She was preceded in death by her parents; hus- band, Homer Vaughn, in 2001; and brother, Robert "Bob" Gendren, in 2012. TEDDY LEON FOSTER Teddy Leon Foster, 71, of Jasper, passed away at 4:37 p.m. on Tuesday, June 9, 2020, at St. Vincent's Hospi- tal in Evansville. He was born in Pike Coun- ty on April 10, 1949, to No- ble and Mary Helen (Tray- lor) Foster. He married Lin- da (Kluemper) Foster on March 10, 1973, at St. Jo- seph's Catholic Church in Jasper. She preceded him in death on June 23, 2015. He was a United States Ar- my veteran, where he drove a tank during the Vietnam War. He was awarded the Purple Heart. Ted worked at JOFCO ( JSI) for over 40 years, where he later re- tired. He was a member of the VFW Post # 673, Jasper Moose Lodge Post #1175 and the American Legion Post #147. He enjoyed hunt- ing, fishing, golfing and tin- kering with projects around the house. He is survived by his daughter, Shelly Foster, of Jasper; sons, Derek Foster, of Jasper, and Jamie (Eli- sha) Foster, of Jasper; five grandchildren; one broth- er, Charles Douglas (Diana Joe) Foster. Preceding him in death besides his wife are his par- ents, Noble and Mary Helen Foster; two brothers, James and Thomas Foster; and two sisters, Shirley Morton and Ethel Kelley. A private Mass of Chris- tian Burial will be at St. Jo- seph's Catholic Church, with burial to follow at Fairview Cemetery in Jas- per. The VFW will perform graveside rites.
