Stam America's hour of decision Religious Viewpoint By Clyde Dupin See MINUTES on 3 See R AMBLINGS on 3 Continued on page 2 It is thrilling to hear the Psalmist, though "greatly afflicted", say: "I believed, therefore have I spoken"(Psa.116:10). It is thrilling too, to see the Apostle Paul, though "troubled… perplexed… persecuted… cast down… alway deliv- ered unto death for Jesus' sake" — it is thrilling to see him take his stand with David and to hear him speak of having "THE SAME SPIRIT OF FAITH", add- ing: "WE AL SO BELIEVE AND THERE- FORE SPEAK" (IICor.4:8 -13). If only all who believe the glorious mes- sage of God's grace: that believers in Christ are accepted in Him, pronounced "complete" and baptized into one body by one divine baptism — if all who believed these truths would speak out today, there would be a sweeping revival tomorrow in the Church, the Body of Christ. If, putting all other considerations aside, they would openly and honestly say: "WE AL SO BE- LIEVE AND THEREFORE SPEAK", the results would be as refreshing as far reaching. And they should speak, for this is "the spirit of faith". But, alas, there are few who possess "the spirit of faith"; few who will stand, regardless of consequences, for the light Baptist Baptist We are living in a desperate hour in a dangerous world. As a result of COV- ID-19 America stands at the crossroads of civilization. There are forces in our government that would turn America in- to Socialism and destroy our freedom of worship and liberties to control our des- tiny. In studying history we see countries like Russia, Germany and many in Eu- rope walked right into the trap. Our me- dia, corrupt politicians, deceived church leaders and Socialists in the classroom are slowly taking us away from our free- dom to preach the Bible and uphold our American heritage. Most people, as in other countries, see nothing wrong un- til it is too late. One of the great problems in Ameri- ca today is the moral decline of our fami- ly values. Only a few years ago males married females. Men and women did not live together until they were mar- ried. Our children were taught about freedom, liberty, love of country and faith in God. Our church- es often do not preach a clear salvation Hello to you all, this week I'm going to give out a shout to the family of my first maintenance foreman. His name was Bob Bennett or BOO BOO as he was nicknamed. Bob was a good foreman and spread the bad work out very evenly over the entire crew. His claim to fame was let me get a good lick at it and it will come or break. Bob wouldn't ask anything of you he wouldn't do himself and on a couple of jobs which came up he did do them with one of us helping him. I was having trou - ble getting a transmission back into a car. I had changed clutches in the car and he came to my home and helped me accom- plish the task. I do believe he would have helped anyone in need. Hope his family is doing well. I haven't got much done this week ex- cept work on the room we are trying to remodel. Our friend Richard worked with us one day and he and I finally got it stripped. We cut some nailing strips and cut some cedar boards to use as floor trim on the new part. We bought unfin- ished oak molding from the Amish and we stained and coated with polyuerthene See VIEWPOINT on 3 Baptist Continued in next column Assembly of God WASHINGTON ASSEMBLY OF GOD 320 S. State Rd 57 Oakland City We appreciate every- one that contributed to the community yard sale. It was very successful in raising funds for the community events. All the funds from the yard sale go directly to community events, such as back-to-school supplies, Thanksgiving dinner, toys for Christmas, and our next event, which is the commu- nity baby shower on Satur- day, June 27, from 9 a.m. to noon (CDT). The commu- nity baby shower is ideal- ly for newborns up to two years of age. This is our first year for the baby show- er and we're very excited about hosting such a won- derful event. Last week, I posted that things are returning to nor- mal at Crossroads. Allow me to state once again that, in addition to our Sunday morning services at 10 :30 a.m., we have resumed our Sunday school on Sunday mornings at 9:30 a.m. Sim- ilarly, we have resumed our children messages, Corner- stone Kids, and children's church. Starting this week, we will resume our Wednes- day children's activities. This Wednesday, June 17, we will begin a new sum- mer activity called "Surf's Up" for ages three to fifth grade. The older kids, sixth grade and up will not start this week, but will resume on Wednesday, June 24. July 18 —Back-to-school backpack event (more de- tails to come). July 20 -24—Vacation Bi- ble School. Crossroads is here for our community. We love Je- sus and love people. If you do not have a church home, or would like to come for a visit, we would love for you to choose Crossroads. Curt Beadle, Pastor GLEZEN G.B. CHURCH Corner of Center and Sycamore Sunday worship at 10 :30 a.m. No Sunday school or children's church worship service until further notice. Continue to wear masks and practice social distancing. Wednesday Bible study 6:30 p.m., wear masks and social distancing is in place. Remember those on our prayer list, the shut-ins and our lost loved ones. Choose God's Wisdom Social media, television ads and people around us daily tell us how to make "wise" choic- es, for example, how to have a healthy body, or have good re- lationships, or have the latest product that will keep us safe or make us happier. In Proverbs, wisdom tells us to choose her. To do that, we first develop a fear of God. This fear is more "reverence" for God, but it also reminds us to fear the consequences of not choosing His wisdom. Choosing God's wisdom be- gins by choosing to know Him personally by following Jesus Christ as your Lord and Savior. Then, if you choose to seek Him for it, He will dai- ly give you wisdom. "The fear of the Lord is the begin- ning of knowledge: but fools despise wisdom and instruc- tion" (Proverbs 1:7). Dwight Howe, Pastor Karri Brock, Reporter GR ACE G.B. CHURCH 1007 E. "He who says he abides in ( Jesus) ought himself also to walk just as He walked" (I John 2:6). If the people in your com- munity were asked about the Christians who live there, what do you think they would say? Would they say they rec- ognize Christians by their love, or because of something else? Consider these two true sit- uations: In one small town, a BIBLE BAPTIST CHURCH An Independent Baptist Church 4995 N. Co. Rd. 850 E. Otwell (Meeting in the Iva Union Church building) Sunday school for chil- dren and adults 9 a.m.; Sun- day morning worship ser- vice 10 a.m.; Sunday eve- ning service, Youth Group (6th grade through 19 years old), and Patch Club (four years old through 5th grade) 6 p.m.; Thursday, prayer service 7 p.m. Scott Fulcher, Pastor Continued in next column restaurant decided to close on Sunday nights because the staff refused to work for the after evening-church crowd. The people who came from church were rude, messy and left small tips. In another town, the man- ager of a store that sold con- cert tickets reported that some of the rudest people she had ever met were sever- al who had bought tickets to hear a well-known Christian singing group. Sometimes we don't realize it, but the non-Christian world is watching us. Our neighbors and acquaintances and others we encounter notice our be- havior. They know that if we claim to be followers of Christ we are supposed to be kind and compassionate. They know our lives should re- flect love and Christ likeness ( John 13:35 and I John 2:6). They know that we shouldn't be so busy with our own in- terests that we don't love oth- er people. We need to be sure that the people who are watching our lives will want to get to know our Savior. May God bless each and everyone. Jerry "Tuffy" Blackwell, Pastor Sharon Kendall, Reporter
