BROOKFIELD – Several important administrative positions in the Elmbrook School District will have added or changed responsibilities for the next school year due to reorganizing and restructuring. Superintendent Mark Hansen updated the School Board in mid-April about the changes. One of the most significant is that Brookfield East High School Principal Dan Pavletich will be the district's human resources director as of July 1. His position will also incorporate that of the communications director, which has been vacant along with other support staff positions. "That has been well received and it will help as a system to respond to some of the HR changes that have occurred in our sector in the last 18 months as we shift from a collective bargaining environment to an employee handbook, benefit redesign. It will allow us to get better poised for changes in the HR world," Hansen said during the meeting. A response to intervention coordinator position has been created and will be filled by Chris Birr. Hansen said the position is funded with grant money. Kirsti Foy, the current HR director, will hold the staff legal counsel position so she can focus on legal matters the district is facing, Hansen said. Other roles that will be expanded include the director of the Waukesha County Special Education Co-op to include assistant director of student services and the director of special education position will be expanded to include director of student services. – Katherine Michalets, Special to The Freeman 231884001
