MAY 2013 Freeman Brookfield & Elm Grove • Page 3A Aurora to relocate Brookfield clinic into expanded space BROOKFIELD – After determining more space was needed to provide the services its clients wanted, Aurora Health Care decided to lease a larger clinic space in Brookfield and expand its services. Aurora Health Care spokesman Adam Beeson said the clinic will be moving from 13850 W. Capitol Drive to the former Bally Total Fitness location at 16985 W. Bluemound Road. The new space will be about 47,000 square feet and Aurora plans to spend about $11 million to renovate it, Beeson said. The planned opening date for the clinic Charles Auer/Freeman Staff By Katherine Michalets Special to The Freeman BROOKFIELD – When Fava Tea Company store owner Karen Sleger thinks of the tea she sells, she likes to think of it as tea with swagger. The business's slogan is "Tea with Moxie," and with tea names like "Cloud 9," "Jello Bello" and "System Re-Buddah," these aren't like your grandma's Lipton teas in a paper bag. The store, however, does stock more traditional teas like Earl Grey. Tea at Fava Tea Company comes from five regions and is offered in about 325 to 350 flavors depending if seasonal teas are available. Bryan and Melissa Stafford started the company in Appleton in 2007 and have a second location in Greenfield. Sleger decided to buy and open the first franchise location of Fava Tea Company in Brookfield because she was looking for something new to do now that the youngest of her five daughters is a senior in high school. When she discovered the Fava Tea Company while exploring tea, she felt like she understood the concept and the customers after having worked at Penzeys Spices. She opened on Feb. 15. Rows of tea canisters fill the shelves at Fava Tea Company. At a glance What: Fava Tea Company Where: The Plaza, 17115G W. Bluemound Road, Brookfield Hours: 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. weekdays, 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Saturdays and 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. Sundays Info: 784-6750, www.favatea.com, www.facebook.com/ FavaTeaBrookfield She hopes customers will come to her store to explore teas, as well. When people walk in through the door of the business, Sleger wants them to feel welcomed and relaxed. She or an employee will then help the person understand how the teas are organized and direct them if needed to a certain tea, but otherwise that person is free to browse. There are several pots of tea for sampling and small sniffer tins of the teas to smell. "This really is a nonthreatening environment. We are caring, friendly people," Sleger said. Each day there are spe- cials, which Sleger lists on the store's Facebook page. There is often a history behind the teas for sale, such as the South American Fresa Guayusa, which Slager said indigenous people refer to as the "night watchman" because of its amount of caffeine that helps them to stay alert and awake. Fava employees, of which there are five part-timers, will help match a person's wants with a tea. "There are so many teas, they have to find something they'd like," said employee Ben Edelstein. All of the teas are sold in loose leaf form, but there is tea ware for sale in the store. Additionally, Fava Tea Company sells German rock sugars, Wisconsin honey and Indulgence Chocolatiers products. She hopes to add artisan sugars in the future. Additionally, if customers are interested in a whole cup of tea, they can have it brewed at Fava Tea Company or can buy a 16-ounce cup of one of the teas being sampled for $1. When the weather gets warmer, Sleger intends to sell at the Brookfield Farmers Market and More, which is every third Saturday. She will also offer iced tea in her store. WAUKESHA – As thousands of Wisconsin residents filed their tax returns in April, state Rep. Dale Kooyenga, R-Brookfield, announced that he is reviewing the Wisconsin tax code and plans to introduce a tax reform package within a month. Kooyenga said Wisconsin's tax code is "horrendous" and the state consistently ranks among the worst 10 in America for property taxes, income taxes and overall business taxes. Kooyenga, a member of the Joint 231834006 Fava Tea Company sells more than 300 flavors in Brookfield Finance Committee, will introduce a tax reform package as a motion to the 2013-15 state budget. The objective of his reform would be to lower Wisconsin's overall rates, simplify the state's tax code and broaden its tax base. Kooyenga serves the 14th Assembly District, which includes Brookfield, Milwaukee and Wauwatosa. – Freeman Staff WISCONSIN'S ALL-TIME LEADING SALES GROUP! $909 MILLION MARK PATTON JAMES RICCABONI PAT BITTERBERG STEVE BAUMAN CAREER SALES $46 MILLION SOLD IN 2012 LUXURY PORTFOLIO ELM GROVE 14225 Juneau Blvd. $2,999,000 PIN 77235 LUXURY PORTFOLIO LUXURY PORTFOLIO LUXURY PORTFOLIO BROOKFIELD MENOMONEE FALLS BROOKFIELD PEWAUKEE 19285 Glacier Parkway $846,000 PIN 33865 W217 N5359 Taylor Woods Dr. $725,000 PIN 85465 2765 Lancaster Court $699,900 PIN 70315 N35 W22424 Weathersfield Ct. $377,500 PIN 28555 DIRECT: 262/786-4001, ext. 122 HOTLINE: 262/814-1400 + 5 Digit PIN INTERNET: bitterberg.shorewest.com E-MAIL: bitterberggroup@shorewest.com LEADING REAL ESTATE COMPANIES OF THE WORLDTM PERFORMANCE COUNTSTM RELOHomeSearch.com LuxuryPortfolio.com LeadingRE.com shorewest.com 231952001 Opening Fall 2013 Reserve Your Apartment Now Heritage offers personalized care and service to meet the needs of each individual resident.
