CARL THOMAS "TOMMY" BLANTON Carl Thomas "Tommy" Blanton, age 74 of Shelby, went to be with his Lord and Savior on Thursday, April 16, 2020. He is survived by his lov- ing wife of 28 years, Linda Hawkins Blanton of the home, his children, Richard McGinnis of Boiling Springs, NC, and Terry McGinnis and wife Chris of Boiling Springs, NC, four grand- children, Brittany Blanton, Matthew Blanton and his soon to be son Ashton Tyler Blanton, Taylor McGinnis, and Brandon McGinnis, a brother, Robert "Shorty" Blanton of Shelby, NC, and a sister, Linda Phillips of Boiling Springs, NC. Born November 11, 1945 in Cleveland County, Tommy was the son of the late Alvin "Ab" and Turie Pearson Blanton and was preceded in death by his son, Robert Michael Blanton, a sister, Ruth Conner and a brother, James Blanton. Tommy worked and retired as a truck driver for various companies including Western Dynasty in Boiling Springs, NC, and World Wide Dedicated Services in Spindale, NC. He was a member of Flint Hill Baptist Church. Tommy was a char- ter member of the Boiling Springs Rescue. He was a diehard Nascar (Dale Earnhardt) fan. Tommy also enjoyed working on his 1964 Galaxie 500XL in his shop. Tommy especially enjoyed spending time with his fam- ily, friends, and his canine companions. A private graveside ser- vice will be held at Flint Hill Baptist Church. The funeral home will upload the service video on their website fol- lowing the service. Tommy will be available for view- loved dressing up in a nice church suit and hat and was known as "Ms. Chancellor." She loved her family espe- cially her grandchildren and great grandchildren. She was a woman who said what was on her mind and didn't hold back. Her favorite quote was "I'm the mama, I can say what I want." In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by two daughters, Linda Kay Campbell and Gwendolyn Campbell; four sisters, Brenda Mauney Brown, Barbara Mauney Kimbell, Linda Kay Mauney and Stella Mauney Ward and a daughter-in-law, Millette Campbell. Left to cherish fond and lasting memories of her are her husband, Johnny Kirkland; her chil- dren, Pamela Campbell, Maurice Campbell (Rhonda) and Xavier Campbell of Rutherfordton, NC; four step-children, Bill Kirkland (Charlene) of Statesville, NC, Scottie Kirkland (Sylvia) of Lincolnton, NC, Sheila Kee of Shelby and Emmanuel Souell of Gastonia, NC; two sisters, Alma Jean Briscoe of Lawndale, NC and Mary Eskridge (Samuel, Jr.) of Shelby; ten grandchildren; a host of great-grandchildren; two brothers-in-law, Charles Kirkland (Penny) of GA and Joe Kirkland (Helen) of CT; two sisters-in-law, Mary Clemmons of GA and Jeanie Kirkland of Hickory, NC; two special cousins who were raised with her, Catherine Reynolds and Mattie Wells and a host of nieces, neph- ews, other relatives and friends. Due to recent coronavirus state guidelines limiting the size of gatherings, the ser- vice for Mrs. Kirkland will be private. She may be viewed on Wednesday, April 22, 2020 at First Baptist Church of Lawndale from 11:00 AM until 1:00 PM. They are also meeting at 1002 Stanton Drive Shelby. JYMMYE KAYE KEATING Shelby- Jymmye Kaye Keating, 69, died Friday, April 17, 2020, at Hospice at Wendover in Shelby. Born in Orangeburg County, SC, she was the daughter of the late Joe and Zilla Riley Keating. Jymmye worked as a Circulation Supervisor at the Cleveland County Memorial Library. Jymmye was a graduate of Limestone College, with a degree in Home Economics. She was a member of Lafayette Street UMC, an avid book reader and gardener, win- ning the City of Shelby resi- dential appearance award. She also loved to cook, and was known for her famous chocolate chip cookies and MARGARET WEBB McGRAW Margaret Webb McGraw, 97, of Shelby, died Monday, April 20, 2020, at White Oak Manor in Shelby. A native of Cleveland County, she was the daughter of the late George and Carrie McBrayer Webb. Margaret finished cosmetology school at Henshaw Beauty School in North Wilkesboro, and worked in Ideal, Piedmont and Eugene Beauty Shops. She was a member of First Baptist Church, where she was a former usher, member of the Elaine Horn Sunday School Class, and active in WMU. She was also a member of the Tuesday Duplicate Bridge Club, a lifetime member of Shelby Woman's Club, served on the Cleveland County Heritage II Book Committee, and was a member of the Cleveland County Parrish Nurses. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Pearce McGraw; and sis- ters, Evelyn Clontz and Aileen Beck. She is survived by nieces, nephews and cousins. She was born on July 8, 1941 in Cleveland County, NC to the late Lucille Shuford and James Luther Brown. Janice aka "Jam-Up" obtained her High School diploma at CCC. Janice was a faithful member of First Baptist Lawndale in Lawndale, North Carolina. She retired after 20 years of service from Cleveland Regional Hospital. He was born February 1, 1968, in Cleveland county to Gloria Hullender Dellinger and the late Max Dellinger. Scott was a member of St. John's Lutheran Church and a craftsman. He found great pleasure in helping people and liked to talk to anyone. THELMA POOLE COOK PORTER Thelma Poole Cook Porter, 95, of Shelby, passed away on Monday, April 20, 2020 at Cleveland Pines Nursing Center, Shelby . Born in Burke County, NC on October 25, 1924, she was the daughter of the late Johnnie David Poole and Minnie Earl Poole. She was retired from Doran Yarn. Mrs. Porter was a member of Elizabeth Baptist Church where she was a former adult Sunday school class teacher and Keenage Choir Member. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her first husband Zollie Cook; second husband, E.P. Porter; three sisters, Vangie Hoyle, Pauline Ledford, and Inez Brackett; four broth- ers, Johnnie Poole, Howard Poole, Jack Poole, and Carl Poole. A native of Cleveland County, she was the daughter of the late George and Viola Black York. Frances was a mem- ber of Eastside Baptist Church, worked many years at Dover Textiles, and retired from Kemet. She had a love for her family, cross stitching, embroidery, sports and spending at the beach. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 54 years, Jack Thomas Fowler; brothers, Matthew, Joe and Lawrence York; and sister, Lucille Sipe.
