Enloe Memorial Chapel on Monday, April 6, 2020 from 5:00 PM until 7:00 PM. GARY KERN DELLINGER Gary Kern Dellinger, of Flint Hill Road, passed away Monday, April 6, 2020, on his 69th birthday. He was born on April 6, 1951 in Gaston County to the late Thomas Henry and Maude Jane Jenks Dellinger, the young- est of 15 children. He was a big jokester and always had a story to tell, whether true or not. He loved to make people laugh. He enjoyed horseback riding and took great pleasure in spending time with his friends and family, especially his grand- children. He was preceded in death his parents, Tom and Maude Dellinger, brothers, Jenks, Harry, and Click Dellinger; and sisters, Louise Hoyle, Betty Neal, JoAnn Houser, Jill Reynolds, Shirley Houser, and Ruby Keever. Left to cherish his mem- ory is his daughter, Angie Hughes (Chris); partner of over 7 years, Maria Demma; grandchildren, Ella Reece Hughes and Lane Christopher Hughes; his beloved siblings Jack Dellinger, Carolyn Camp, Frankie Bess, and Gay Ramsey; and numerous nieces and nephews. Due to COVID-19 restric- tions, a celebration of Gary's life will be announced by the family at a later date. In lieu of flowers, Gary would've preferred that you use your money to support your own family during this time of uncertainty. PAUL NEWTON GOODE Paul Newton Goode, 64, of Randall Road, Lawndale, passed away on Tuesday, April 7, 2020 at his resi- dence. Born in West Virginia on ROBERT "WINK" HOOVER WELLMON Robert "Wink" Hoover Wellmon, 90, of Sugar Hill Road, Lawndale, passed away on Tuesday, April 7, 2020 at Hospice at Wendover, Shelby . Born in Cleveland County on November 26, 1929 , he was the son of the late Enuch Wellmon and Ella Costner Wellmon. Mr. Wellmon was the prior owner and operator of Golden Years Rest Home and was of the Christian Faith. He was preceded in death by his wife, Betty Goins Wellmon, three brothers, Tommie Wellmon, Clemmie "Chick" Wellmon and Howard "Shorty" Wellmon and two sisters, Sara Jane Towery and Irene Hoyle. Survivors include a son, Randy Wellmon and wife, Paulette of Lawndale; two grandchildren that was his pride and joy, Brandy Wellmon of Austin, Texas and Robbie Wellmon of Mooresboro and a sis- ter, Kimmie Hartman of Lawndale. Mr. Wellmon will lie-in- state from 2:00 PM to 4:00 PM, Wednesday at Stamey- Tysinger Funeral Home. A private graveside will be held at Rose Hill Memorial Park, Fallston. WOODROW "WOODY" NORRIS Mr. Woodrow "Woody" Norris, 74, of 926 Lake Drive Shelby, NC passed away on Wednesday, April 1, 2020 at Wendover Hospice House in Shelby. A native of Cleveland County, NC to the late Grover Norris, Sr. and the late Mary Lou Lumpkin. "Woody" was a member of Palmer Grove Baptist Church. He was a very friendly person who never met a stranger and he loved to have fun. Woody was the one who would always keep the family laughing when they all got together. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Pearl Norris and his nine sisters; seven brothers CONTINO EDWARD CULBRETH Mr. Contino Edward Culbreth, 49, of Shelby, NC departed this life on Wednesday, April 1, 2020 at Atrium Health-Cleveland in Shelby. He was born on July 9, 1970 in Cleveland County, NC to James Edward and Jan Black Culbreth. "Colt" as he liked to be called attended Crest High School. As a youth, he attended Eskridge Grove Baptist Church and even though he did not attend a local church in recent years, he was a follower of T. D. Jakes Ministry. Continio was formerly employed with K.S.M Casting and most recently with Champion's Studio for over 10 years. Contino was an unique individual and was the go to person for his friends to be given wise counsel. He was a faithful friend who was full of humor and wit. Although enjoyed being around his friends, he also enjoyed quiet, reflective time to him- self and family. He was an avid sports watcher and a diehard Chicago Bears fan. He also enjoyed listening to music. "Colt" was a down to earth who always kept it real. He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Coy and Minnie Black and Catherine Culbreth and Jonas Huddleston; aunts, Diane Lee (Billy) and Pauline Mask and uncle Coy Black. He leaves fond and pre- cious memories of him to his parents, James and Jan Culbreth of Shelby; four sons, Andrecus Culbreth, Demarius Deavaux, Isaiah Littlejohn and Tykeise Littlejohn; two sisters, Kwanya Culbreth-Lewis (Maurice) and Nakia Culbreth Laney (Alan) both of Shelby; two nephews, Brandon Lewis and Elijah Lewis and a host of "beloved cousins, extended family and friends. JIM "BIG JIM" DAVES Jim "Big Jim" Daves, 85, of Shelby, passed away on Tuesday, April 7, 2020 at Cleveland Pines Nursing Center, Shelby. Born in Cleveland County on September 8, 1934, he was the son of the late Austin Daves and Georgia Bridges Daves. He was retired as a Civil Service Electrician and was a member of Morning Star Baptist Church. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his daughter, Barbara Bowen and sister, Fuchia Flynn. Survivors include three daughters, Nancy Crawford and husband, Dean of Belwood, Cindy Riddle and husband, Guy of Asheville and Lori Daves of New York; nine grandchildren and thir- teen great grandchildren. A private graveside ser- vice will he held at Mt. Olivet Baptist Church in Ellenboro with Dr. Brian Johnson offi- ciating. EMMA BARROW SCOTT Mrs. Emma Barrow Scott, 100, of Shelby, NC passed away on Friday, April 3, 2020 at White Oak Manor in Shelby. She was born in Oglethorpe County, GA on May 20, 1919 to the late Shadrach Barrow and Nancy Glenn Barrow. Emma was the sixth of twelve children. Emma lived in Philomath with her family which included her maternal great-grandmother, Caroline McQuaita until she was five years old. In 1924, Emma May 11, 1955, he was the son of the late Paul Goode and Nancy Hoyos Goode. Paul was owner and opera- tor of trucking. Survivors include his wife of 22 years, Josephine Galfo Goode; a daughter, Vanessa Heart of Colorado and two sisters, Fran Goode of Washington and Bert Bargeron of Glennville, GA. All services will be private. Arrangements have been entrusted to Stamey-Tysinger Funeral Home & Cremation Center, Inc., Fallston, NC. HERMAN W. HOYLE Kings Mountain - Mr. Herman W. Hoyle, 81, passed away on Tuesday, April 7, 2020 at his resi- dence. Herman was born on September 9, 1938 in Lincoln County a son of the late Luther Hoyle, Sr. and Lula Jane Williams Hoyle. He was employed by Gaston County Recycling and worked at the Tryon Recycling Center in Bessemer City. Herman was of the Baptist faith. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by four sisters, Alda Crawley, Velma Abernathy, Bessie Neal and Ruth Sheets; two brothers, Luther Hoyle, Jr. and Dean Hoyle. Survivors include his wife of 35 years Patsy Barnhill Hoyle of the home; a daugh- ter, Tammy Engle and hus- band Steve of Cherryville; a sister, Mildred Chapman of Iron Station; two grand- children, Clay Deveney and Krystal Deveney; two step grandchildren, Tasha Engle and Ashley Little; two great grandchildren, Braylen Deveney and Jaxson Deveney; and three step great-grandchildren, Taylor Engle, Hunter Williams and Hayden Williams. ROBERT LEE DOVER Grover - Mr. Robert Lee Dover, 78, passed away on Friday, April 3, 2020 at Testa Family Hospice House in Kings Mountain. Robert was born on August 2, 1941 in Blacksburg, SC a son of the late Tom Dover and Frances Philbeck Dover. He retired from Beam's Landscaping and her family moved to the Lattimore Farm in Boiling Springs, North Carolina. After arriving in Boiling Springs, Emma and her family joined Eskridge Grove Baptist Church Family and was the oldest member at the time of her death. While growing up in Boiling Springs, Emma met the love of her life, Ambrose Scott and married him. After Emma and Ambrose mar- ried, Emma gave birth to their first child, Bettye Jean and moved to 409 Weathers Street in Shelby when Bettye was six months old. During the next few years, two more daughters were born, Magdalene (Madge) and Vernell. While raising her girls, Emma worked as a domestic in the office of Dr. Tilt. In 1954, Emma gave birth to her first son, Edwin Jerome (deceased) and two years later her last son/child, Ambrose Llrae (deceased) was born. After the girls grew up and the boys were getting older, Emma started work at JP Stevens Mills and remained there for 5 years. Emma, then moved to Ora Mill and remained there for 15 years until she retired. Throughout her years of retirement, Emma was a devoted grandmother and great-grandmother dur- ing which she babysat two of her great-grand kids, Devin and Carla Scott. Emma was one of the pio- neer family members who started the Barrow-Scott Family Reunion which has been an annual family event for 38 years. Emma was a Phenomenal Woman of God who was a prayer warrior for her family and friends. Emma was preceded in death by her husband - Ambrose, 2 sons – Edwin and Ambrose, 1 daughter - Vernell, her parents and her 11 siblings. Emma leaves to share her legacy of love, her daugh- ters: Bettye Wray (Samuel) & Madge Wray, grandchil- dren: Sherrye Wray, Samuel "Chuck" Wray Jr (Freida), Carlos "Ricky" Scott (Debra), Arlos "Randy" Scott, Derwyn Wray, Aleta Howell (Kevin), Dewayne Simpson, Michelle Sullivan (Peter), Sherrye Scott, Gloria Benjamin & Candice Scott; two daugh- ters-in law – Kathy Scott and Gaynelle Scott; sister-in-law – Beulah Smith (Walter); 23 great-grandchildren, 4 great- great-grandchildren, a great- great-great-grandchild and a host of nieces, nephews and cousins.
