Main Street Petersburg 812-354-6775 Regular services: Sunday school 9:30 a.m. and worship service at 10 :30 a.m. This Holy Week is the oddest Holy Week I have ev- er experienced. As we ap- proach Easter, many of us are aware that we are approach- ing what could be the deadli- est weeks of this pandemic. We have seen the numbers continue to climb, we must remember to fix our eyes on the one who is sovereign, and that he is the same yes- terday, today, and tomorrow. Without hope in one who is greater, these times will be crippling. In times like this we realize that God has put everything under the feet of Jesus, that everything is in subjection to him. Let us re- member that God is greater than this virus, he is great- er than our fear, he is great- er than all of it. As we approach Easter, we are sad that churches all across our country and many globally who will not gather corporately. But we are grate- ful that God has given us the creativity to utilize technol- ogy to meet. I invite you to look forward to Sunday as we put on a special service to di- rect our focus on the risen Christ. Keep up with us on Facebook, Petersburg First Christian Church. Or on our website petersburgfcc.net DJ Bryant, Pastor VINCENT CHRISTIAN CHURCH 8264 E. Grace Someone has said, "The grace of God still enables men to live straight in a crooked world." The Apostle Paul left these words, "To them God has cho- sen to make known among the Gentiles the glorious riches of this mystery; which is Christ in you, the hope of glory" (Colossians 1:27). He also wrote, "For it is by grace you have been saved, through faith, and this not from yourselves, it is the gift of God, not by works, so that no one can boast. For we are God's workmanship cre- ated in Christ Jesus to do good works, which God pre- pared in advance for us to do" (Ephesians 2:8 -10). Because He lives. Until we are able to again meet together as a body, the services are being record- ed, when possible. The re- cording will not have faces of people, but will contain verses being read for your convenience, and is being done by a volunteer. A video of the service for Resurrec- tion Sunday should be possi- ble for viewing using the fol- lowing internet link: https:// youtu.be/jJvvR9nB94Q. God offered an "easy out" to Moses as he reminded the Israelites in Deuterono- my 9:14, giving him the op- tion of allowing God to build a nation through Moses him- self that would be great- er and mightier than Isra- el. The "catch" is that Mo- ses should not pray for His existing relatives, so that God can judge them and de- stroy them. Moses chose the harder path. He prayed, fast- ing for 40 days and nights in addition to the 40 he'd just spent while obtaining the stone tablets. A fter God granted this request, Mo - ses would still have to lead these complaining unap- preciative relatives through the wilderness with food and water shortages. Moses dis- played his humility by be- ing ready to serve God in a way that helped keep oth- ers from death, and glorified God, rather than thinking of himself or what he could get. This should prompt us to pray for others no matter how they may feel about us, so that they too will want to worship and obey the Lord for His work on the cross, giving us hope through His resurrection, and blessing us with His Holy Spirit. Drug Problem I had a "drug" problem when I was a young person and teenager. I was "drug" to church on Sunday morning. I was "drug" to church on Sun- day night. I was "drug" to church on Wednesday night. I was "drug" to Sun- day school every week. I was "drug" to Vacation Bi- ble school. I was "drug" to the family altar to read the Bible and pray. I was al- so "drug" to the woodshed when I disobeyed my par- ents. Those "drug" are still in my veins, and they affect my behavior in everything I do and say, and think. They are stronger than cocaine, crack and hero- in. If our children had this "drug" problem, America would certainly be a better place. God Bless America. So many trials come into our lives and along with the business of life. These things can easily choke out the Life of God in us.
