The center has been in the works for more than five years. Groundbreaking for the facility was on December 9. Pike County Economic Development Corp. Executive Director Ashley Willis said, barring delays, it is expect- ed to be completed by Thanksgiving. "They started the structural steel yesterday. NEWS! 812-354-8500 Property tax bills being mailed, deadline extended to July 10 The deadline to pay your property taxes has been ex- tended from May 11 to Fri- day, July 10 in Indiana due to the COVID-19 pandemic. "You have until July 10, 2020 to pay your taxes, with- out incurring any addition- al penalty." However Pike County Treasurer Marta Query said she and the State Treasurer are encouraging all taxpayers to make time- ly payments in order to en- sure orderly operations of lo- cal and state governments. The Court House is closed to the public and will remain closed at least until April 20, at which time the Commis- sioner's will re-evaluate ac- cording to State issued guidelines. Property owners will not be allowed to pay their tax- es in person in the Treasur- er's office. Query said the payments options are: to mail them in, pay by credit card over the phone and to pay online. • If paying by mail, in- clude your check, money or- der or cashier's check along with your tax coupon. Mail them to: Pike County Trea- surer, 801 Main St., Peters- burg, Indiana 47567. Que- ry added, "Be sure to en- close your pre-printed tax coupon otherwise you will be charged a $1 reprint fee. If you would like a receipt, be sure to enclose a self-ad- dressed, stamped envelope in with your payment." Query said, "Those who pay in cash, you will either need to purchase a money order or wait until the Court House is opened to the pub- lic. There is no certainty that we will open again by July 10, 2020, so please, take that into consideration." • Paying by credit card over the phone: Call 877- 690 -3729 and the JCODE you will need is 2485. An in- correct number for this was provided in last week's is- sue. "We no longer accept credit card payments over the phone in our office.
