The Press-Dispatch Church Wednesday, April 8, 2020 B- 3 MINUTES Continued from page 1 PAWS WEEK PAWS WEEK Pet of the ICE "Cats never strike a pose that isn't photogenic" —Lil- lian Jackson Braun. This week, PAWS is fea- turing a sweet, young fe- line named Ice, who has a unique feature, in that she is odd-eyed. Ice has one gold- en eye and one blue eye. Known technically as het- erochromia, which is a ge- netic condition carried by the same gene that makes cats white. Ice seems to know she is unique and has a bit of a haughty per- sonality. She enjoys sitting on the cat tree at PAWS and also enjoys spending time on the cat porch soaking up the sun. She has soft, white fur and can be adopted for $ 30. To see Ice, call 812- 354-9894. RAMBLINGS Continued from page 1 Pentecostal Presbyterian Wesleyan VIEWPOINT Continued from page 1 inations in the Christian Church. There are a few things that bond us togeth- er. Christians believe in the virgin birth, life, death, bur- ial and resurrection of Je- sus Christ. Because Christ is raised from the dead we have Easter and salvation. Now anyone, anywhere can believe in Him and have eternal life. We cannot say too much about the resur- rection. It is central to the Christian faith. More people normally are in church on Easter Sunday than any Sunday of the year. Our world could be trans- formed if all would trust God Easter Sunday and hon- or His name and follow His teachings. So many trials come in- to our lives and along with the business of life. These things can easily choke out the Life of God in us. But praise God, "But seek ye first the Kingdom of God, and His righteousness; and all these things will be added unto you" (Matthew 6:33). What things will be add- ed? God's order back in- to our lives—a peace that passes all understanding— He is in control. Facebook: White River Chapel UMC, Jeff Pinney. "On the first day of the week, very early in the morning, the women took the spices they had pre- pared and went to the tomb. They found the stone rolled away from the tomb, but when they entered, they did not find the body of the Lord Jesus. While they were wondering about this, sud- denly two men in clothes that gleamed like lightning stood beside them. In their fright the women bowed down with their faces to the ground, but the men said to them, 'Why do you look for the living among the dead? He is not here; he has ris- en'" (Luke 24:1-7). How the Poor Live One day, a father of a very wealthy family took his son on a trip to the country with the firm purpose of show- ing his son how poor people live. They spent a couple of days and nights on the farm of what would be considered a very poor family. On their return trip, the father asked his son, "How was the trip? " "It was great, Dad." "Did you see how poor people live? " the father asked. "Oh yeah," said the son. "So, tell me, what did you learn from the trip? " asked the father. The son answered, "I saw that we have one dog and they had four. We have a pool that reaches to the mid- dle of our garden, and they have a creek that has no end. We have imported lanterns in our garden, and they have the stars at night. Our patio reaches to the front yard and they have the whole horizon. We have a small piece of land to live on and they have fields that go beyond our sight. We have servants who serve us, but they serve others. We buy our food, but they grow theirs. We have walls around our property to protect us. They have friends to protect them." The boy's father was speechless. Then his son add- ed, "Thanks, Dad, for show- ing me how poor we are." Happy Easter. Roy Stilwell, Pastor Pam Lemond, Reporter The penalty for all his sins has been fully paid, for he died — in Christ, and thus has also risen with Christ "to walk in newness of life" (Rom 6:3,4). This is all God's doing, and only now is the believ- er in a position to do good works that will please God. Thus the Apostle writes of believers, in II Tim. 2: "If we suffer, we shall also reign with Him: if we deny Him, He also will deny us" ( Ver. 12). When the believer's ser- vice for Christ is reviewed some, indeed, will "receive a reward," but others will "suf- fer loss," though they them- selves will "be saved, yet so as by fire" (I Cor. 3:14,15). It will be deeply embar- rassing, in that day, for un- faithful Christians to face empty-handed the One who gave His all, Himself, to save them. Yet salvation is by grace, thus the Apos- tle hastens to conclude his statement in II Timothy 2, with the words: "If we are unfaithful, yet He abideth faithful: He can- not deny Himself" ( Ver. 13) Thus our rewards as be- lievers depend upon our faithfulness, but our salva- tion, thank God, on His! please find an altar to pray at because we need all the prayer we can send up. This thing has disrupted our lives and I can't see us ever being relaxed enough to go back to what we were used to. Perhaps we have taken things for granted for too long. However some things we are doing sounds a little dangerous like al- lowing only so many into a store at one time. Hasn't any thought gone into the crowding of people wait- ing to get in the store will be a haven for germs if any- one outside has it. I agree whole heartedly with going in to the store and getting what you need and then out, it only makes sense. I feel bad for this year's graduating class of 2020 because they have had ma- ny memory inducing expe- riences stolen from them. There is nothing like hear- ing "Pomp and Circum- stance" being played as the march to graduation cer- emony. Their high school prom, senior week where you get to let loose and dress in your funniest garb to visit with the lower class- es and have fun. By the way kids it has been a rude way of saying to you, congrat- ulations welcome to Coro- naville. The Petersburg Lions club had their first virtu- al email meeting and it worked, but I must admit it was more than a little awk- ward. Thank heaven it did work and everyone got their chance to add to the email and share with the others. On another line of thought my youngest son, his wife and I tried to find some mushrooms in our favorite hunting spot. We got skunked because none of us found even a hint of a mushroom. These stories we are hearing about gro- cery sacks full must have came from special places. If they found them, I am hap- py for them and I hope they enjoy eating them. I can re- member one time while on night shift one guy brought in a gallon of mushrooms to cook for all of us at supper break. Well there was one guy ate so many that the fel- low doing the cooking had trouble keeping up with him. The rest of us had to grab what we could as fast as we could in order to get any. I miss holding our church service and the assembling together with one another. This has been a wake up call for all of us to realize that the church is only a meeting place and God expects noth- ing less of us than to keep on thinking a little bit less of ourselves and a whole lot more of others. Don't forget to be a blessing this week and may our Lord take care of us all. Call Us Today 354-8500 To Start Your Subscription with The Press-Dispatch.
