Otwell Miller Academy Sheriff Kent Johnson began the D.A.R.E. Program with the fifth graders from Otwell Miller Academy this week. The fifth graders were paired with some third and fourth graders for Wacky Wednesday Lan- guage Arts and Math Activities. They worked on a Dr. Dolittle project unit that included language arts, science and social studies activities, then for math, they completed projects using the "Legos Learn 2 Learn." They completed a game called "Block and Cover," using strategy, problem solving, spatial think- ing and counting in order to win. They also played, "Mirror, Mirror," with which they explored, reviewed and learned about following di- rections exactly, patterns and symmetry. Second grader Kellcyn Riker enjoyed sharing her special birthday treats with her OMA second grade family. Learn to Learn Legos Project participants Jae- lynn, fifth grader, and Hope, fourth grader. Wacky Wednesday helps students work at accelerated levels or review levels or both.
