Like personal digital assistants, it is com- pact and portable. Like a home security system, it is capable of functioning autonomously for extend- ed periods without direct human intervention. But unlike virtually any other product... it is, for the most part, self-cleaning"—Da- vid Brunner and Sam Stall. This week, PAWS is fea- turing a stellar young fe- line named Nancy, who is a very independent gal, who strolls around the of- fice at PAWS as if she runs the place single-handedly. She is a beautifully marked tortoiseshell that you must see to appreciate. The folk- lore about Torties is that they bring luck and they are sometimes referred to PAWS WEEK PAWS WEEK Pet of the NANCY Baptist as money cats. One study found that tortoiseshell owners frequently believe their cats have increased attitude (tortitude)! Nancy is spayed, has all her shots and can be ad- opted by calling 812-354- 9894. Are you the new year's res- olution type? I'll admit, I'm not. I learned at some point if I don't set a resolution, then I can't fail it. Dr. Robert Asa, Minister 19 percent of people, achieve their new year's resolutions within two years. Two years. That's why when you get a gym membership and walk in on January 1, it's a mad house. And if you kept your fitness goal and you walk in on February 1, that same gym is a ghost town. But as much as I hate new year's resolutions, I love goals. I am a goal setter. Whether that goal is to cook x amount of meals or lose a certain num- ber of pounds. I set goals, and hope to achieve them, and I think a lot of us do the same. However, if we aren't care- ful, we will set goals, and fo- cus on the outcome, but that's not the most impor- tant part. This year as you think about goals, think about this, who do you want to be? Imagine you get to at- tend your own funeral, what do you want your friends and family to say about who you were? As we enter this new decade, and consider the things we want to do, let's consider first who we want to be, and create our goals and resolutions around that. Grace and Peace Pike Co. family. DJ Bryant, Pastor Worship-Continued "I'm stronger for having touched the lives of my fel- low Christians. We are in this thing together. Unless we stay together and work together under God, a pa- gan world will destroy us." "I have more of God in my life, because this is what worship does. It brings God alive in human experience and that is what I need." "And let us consider one another in order to stir up love and good works, not forsaking the assembling of ourselves together, as is the manner of some, but ex- horting one another, and so much the more as you see the Day approaching" (He- brews 10 :24-25). Jesus makes the follow- ing statement twice: "I tell you, no; but unless you re- pent [change your old way of thinking, turn from your sinful ways and live changed lives], you will all likewise perish." This statement is not to call attention to a physical death, but a spir- itual one, because of sin in our lives. Each of us is required to repent. This verse from the amplified version even tells how. Not with some flimsy spoken sorry which may too easily fall from our mouths, but a complete change, be- ginning with how we think, and resulting in how we act. Thinking of God first and always, followed by think- ing of others, and only then of ourselves is the proper order. Change does take time though, so don't give up. Some changes may hap- pen quickly and others slow- ly, but change is what must take place for us to reflect Je- sus for others to see. A change from 'taking up valuable space' to 'being fruitful' in the eyes of God, as depicted in the parable that follows the verses quot- ed from Luke 13:3 and 5 is necessary for true life. Are you willing to allow the Ho- ly Spirit to fertilize your life today? There's no time like the present. "How do I ascertain the will of God? I seek at the be- ginning to get my heart in- to such a state that it will not seek its own way to a given matter. Having done this, I do not leave the results to feeling or simple impression. I seek the will of the Spirit of God through and in connec- tion with the Word of God. If the Holy Spirit is guiding us, He will do it according to the Scriptures. Next, I take into account providential circum- stances. These often plainly indicate God's will in con- nection with His Word and Spirit. I ask God in prayer to reveal His will to me al- right. Thus, through prayer to God, the study of the word, and to the best of my abili- ty and knowledge, and if my mind is thus at peace, I pro- ceed accordingly"—George Muller.
