"Cody Davis got another great win," McCain said. "I noticed he used a figure four on his kid that I had used on Cody that week in practice. It was good to see him put- ting that to use." The Bears went up 23-18 after receiving a forfeit in the heavyweight match. The Chargers took back the lead after Griffin Boyd quickly pinned his opponent at 106. "Griffin Boyd picked up a nice win for us," McCain said. "I needed him to open up and start being more ag- gressive. He did just that." Pike Central built the lead to 30 -23, after receiving a forfeit at 113. However, the Bears took the lead back for good after earning a pin at 120 and a close decision at 126. Jon Cannon earned a nice 11-5 decision for the Char- gers in the final match of the night. "Jon Cannon won a hard- fought match," McCain said. "Nothing came easy for him, but that's what makes us bet- ter and more prepared for post season. That was a big win for him." Pike Central hosted Evansville Memorial on Tuesday, Jan. 21. "We need to regroup and take it to Memorial," Mc- Cain said. "We beat them al- ready, but it's a new day and new meet. I'm sure they are ready and we must be too." The team will compete in the PAC Meet on Satur- day, Jan. 25 at Heritage Hills High School. While at USI, she played in a school-record 120 games and also set the school re- cord for assists in a game, season and career. Runyan also finished second in career steals, 11th in career blocks, 18th in career rebounds and 26th in career scoring. During her sophomore sea- son, the Screaming Eagles fin- ished 30 -2 and were the run- ners-up for the 1997 Division II National Championship. She was inducted into the USI Athletic Hall of Fame in 2017. "[Runyan] is one of those play- ers that you look back and think how you were blessed to be able to coach her," former Pike Cen- tral coach Steve Barrett said. "It was my pleasure for four years. She would tell you that I or her teammates had a lot to do with this, but she's the one who earned it. All I did was push a little bit." Runyan joins Tricia Deffen- doll, who was named to IBHOF Silver Anniversary Team in 2016, as the Chargers' only IBHOF players. "I did not get to see her play, but I think her stats and accom- plishments at both Pike Central and the University of Southern Indiana speak for themselves," Pike Central Athletic Director Dustin Powell said. "Adrienne is in a group of eighteen wom- en who are being recognized for their efforts as a high school basketball player 25 years ago. I don't know the exact num- bers, but I would say well over a thousand seniors were playing in 1995. She is one of eighteen selected for this team. Coach [Steve] Barrett can take up a full day with what Adrienne meant to the basketball program. Bot- tom line is, work hard and good things will happen. This young girl from Pike County worked hard at everything she did and still does and now she is reaping the reward. I know Pike Central is very proud."
