The Press-Dispatch Church Wednesday, Januar y 1, 2020 C- 3 RAMBLINGS Continued from page 1 Continued on page 8 Continued in next column Continued from page 2 Psalms 128:1, NIV JESUS CHRIST Our Firm Foundation 1415 N. Vincennes Ave., Petersburg • 812-354-4424 May 2020 be the year of your blessings. HAPPY New Year GOD bless your 2020 Main Street Presbyterian Church Petersburg • 812-354-6844 With best wishes to you and your kin, We're so grateful for your dropping in And before another year gets into gear, We'd like to wish you Happy New Year! See You Next Year! Ficklin Auto Supply, Inc. 12th & Main Streets, Petersburg • 812-354-6000 myself and I feel good after exercising. You might be lucky enough to feel good all day long. It is good to have fami- ly traditions but sometimes as our family members leave and start a family of their own our traditions are often altered. Why do some get so upset by this. You should be happy you have helped the Lord establish a new family to carry on as needed. We need to face it, as we age things are going to change and if you want to be a part of their life you may have to alter your thinking. Our sons have grown up but they do their best to be with Mom and Dad at least part of each holiday. My wife and I are smart enough to know we can't control their lives nor can we live ours through theirs. I've been making a plea to everyone about volun- teering your time and ef- forts to the many positions in our community. Today I'm making a plea for you to seriously consider join- ing the Lions because we could definitely use many new members. Our organization is a ser- vice minded club. Some of our many projects include: cancer control, eye sight help, support of the gamma knife at IU med and diabe- tes awareness. This is not a complete list of the many things we do, only a sam- pling of our many involve- ments. If you have a heart for your fellowman and would like to make a difference then consider us as a means for you to help. We meet every second Thurs- day night at the Village Inn at 6:30 p.m. You can always get in touch with one of us or you can call me at 812- 354-9597 and I'll be hap- py to help you get into Li- onism. Our Sunday scripture lesson will be about mak- ing promises and not keep- ing them. We sometimes promise God things and welch out, which brings you to judgment. We seem to forget a good name is easy to lose if we don't keep our word. It also in- volves, saying what you mean and meaning what you say. Should be interest- ing where God will take us with this subject. As always I ask you to go and be a blessing to some- one each day. Prayer week is January 5 -9. Some see God as a cold taskmaster. He's laid down the law and you either turn or burn. That is NOT our God. Our God carefully planned out and spoke the universe into existence. He then lovingly crafted a beautiful garden filled with delicious foods, animals, plants, insects; even down to the smallest organism that was created with such precision. And then with lov- ing hands, He formed Adam and breathed His very own life into Him. God cared so much that He gave Adam a companion and wife in Eve. The biggest show of God's love for us came next when He gave them free choice. Everything had been loving- ly set up and created for His children, even a way to bring them back into relationship with Him if they messed up and walked away from Him.
