Luke 3:38 lists Adam as the son of God, which means that both Adam and Christ are sons of God. One of God's sons acted foolish- ly and the other wisely; giv- ing us pictures of disobedi- ence and obedience. Dis- obedience wasn't difficult to manage, because it's nev- er hard to get into trouble, but turned out to have terri- ble consequences for us. Obedience, on the other hand, was painful both in life and death, but the best thing ever done for us. Do- ing things that seem to be easy and no big deal have a way of being bad for us, and are part of the lie told to us by our flesh. The hard- er things to be faced and fought through which may bring pain are usually worth more to us. As children of God, we are given choices: disobedi- ence or obedience, easy or hard.
