Oakland City library to give away 50 free cards to residents The Oakland City-Colum- bia Township Public Library is pleased to announce a partnership with the Barton Township Board of Trust- ees that will allow for up to 50 residents to receive sub- scription cards to the library at no additional cost to them. Similar to the agreement with Center Township, cards will be limited to one per household and are available on a first-come, first-served basis until all 50 cards are gone. These cards also of- fer access to the library's e- book and audio collections as well. Library director Julie El- more states, "This agree- ment allows for increased access to the library in East Gibson. Due to our taxing district, it was awkward to explain that because they didn't pay taxes to the dis- trict, they could not receive a free card. Now that conver- sation doesn't have to hap- pen for the first 50 people who apply as the township is funding those cards and saving their taxpayers $43, the current price of a sub- scription card." East Gib- son student cards are not a part of the limited cards, and remain available to all students regardless of res- idency. Those interested in ob- taining one of the cards, should come to the library after the new year and pres- ent their state identification card showing their current address to fill out card ap- plications. Questions can be direct- ed to the library at 812-749 - 3559 or via their Facebook page, www.facebook.com/ occtpl.
